Hi all, basically after moving house my little 32" tv is not really big enough anymore.
Seen a couple of offers on tv and some various searching. I have come across two tv's that are in my price range and that i quite like the look of.
Not seen any working yet but just want some advice.
First off my budget is £600. Now out of these two what you you guys recommend?
If you also have any other recommendations that would be better for the same budget then please feel free to advise.

Thank you in advance.

First off Lg 50" plasma.

Thanks for any input guys, Its really needed.

I'm struggling to decide which tv to get also, although spending a bit more than the op.

wish i never done any research now on av forums it seems both the lg and panasonic g20 have their fair share of faults.
the g20 seems to have black banding issues(not sure what that means)flickering red pixels and picture degradation over time also a buzzing noise, and the lg screen is too reflective has bad image retention and a sharpness bug

arrrgh it never used to be this hard to buy a tv.:(

neither!

Get a Panasonic TX-P42S20B 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 600Hz.

i paid £700 6 months ago now there down to £550! its an awsome tv cant praise it enough.

Opted for the 50" plasma. Lots of good reviews on it over the net, Decent price too for a 50" full HD too.
Just got to wait till bloody monday now lol.

Didnt want to go for a 42" plasma. Plenty of decent advice on other sites that i managed to find.
Very good reports about LG and a very good looking tv too.
ALso thanks for your clever input it really helped :p

Listening to the above advice about buying the panasonic would have helped

but you already rejected that :p

Personally, i think you've got priorities wrong. The Panasonic plasma's have been referred to as reference level quality. The LGs just arent in the same league. 42" or 50" shouldnt really come into it.

Quality > Size imo.

Yes but there are many other features too. The lG seemed to suit me more and more. Lots of people have rated the LG's the same or even slightly better than the panny tv's.
I wanted a 50" tv only reason for the 42" was its LED.
I did look at the panny's but the LG seemed more what i wanted.
Size should matter with a tv, my 32 samsung was one of the best quality sets of its time but its just too small in my new house. So there for the size does matter!!
At the end of the day its all down to preference and my preference was a 50" set that is of good all round quality and also looks nice(afterall you sit there looking at a tv a lot.
I do appreciate the info given on here but its not always right for everyone.

the people that have rated it over the panasonic plasmas dont know what they're talking about then imo.

Well i would say they seem to be a lot more informed than most on here.
Like i say though it all comes down to your own preference. You may like something that i dont simple as that.

There are meant to be a few faults with the panny tv's at the moment, hence why i decided to go with LG.

Have a read over on the Av forums.

Panasonic TX-P42G20B 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 600Hz Neo Plasma TV with Freeview HD and Freesat HD

Brilliant set this as well as the S20B models.

Definitely would have went with the Panasonic. Still have the good ol' 42PX80B and it still has the best picture quality that I have seen next to every other TV bar of course the X10B and now the G20's.

Panasonic was never really an option. I wanted 50" tv and thats what i got. Only other option was going to be an LED.
I decided on the LG as it had all that i need. ANd is probably the nicest looking tv set that i have seen in my price range.

How is that a fail??

LG are third tier when it comes to quality control.

You will have a worse PQ than the Panny, have IR issues and when it goes wrong a horrible experience dealing with LG.

I dont think you understand televisions as you would pic a LED tv (still an lcd) at 42" but would not consider a 42" that is better than the LED (still an LCD) because its too small??

There are niggles with some Pannys, but even with falling black levels it will have better blacks than the LG or LCD and you have gone for a screen with more issues IR, fizzing buzzing PSU and motion issues.

As MrLoL said you didnt really want advice ;)

Beg to differ but hey not an issue.
Im more than happy with my purchase and the PQ is superb! Better then my samsung LCD so all round good.
I did want some advice but by the time the first reply had come in i was out of the house looking.
I did way up a lot of things when looking, and the panasonic has nothing extra/better for me. And yes i wanted a 50" screen, did i not say that earlier??????

It was the 42" LG that threw people of the scent that you wanted a 50"

Like saying should i get the Astra of Focus and buying the Astra cos you wanted a Vauxhall all along... ;)

Anyway, it will be better than a nasty old Sammy so LCD so enjoy :)
