Is there any info about the 6950?

Expected price?

Specs compared to the above Gigabyte card?

I know its a month away before it might possibly even be released but I dont want to miss out on the Gigabyte 470 Super OC I cant get over how good it is for the price but I dont want to buy it and the 6950 be superior for little more money, OCUK are saying limited stock on 470 SOC?

Another worry is the 6950 comes out only for Nvidia to respond with a 475 :o

I was thinking the same thing but the 6950 will most deffo be faster but i bet there will be a heavy price on thease cards remember how retailers pump the price up also.. 470SC is a nice price i'm half tempted myself if i could find a buyer for my 4870x2

No one can really tell you for sure - going by the most likely info out the box it should be close to the 6 series replacement for the 5770 and when overclocked quite a bit faster.

I'm not interested in overclocking I prefer factory settings so I usually go for OC cards which is another thing, the 6950 will be boggo cards for a bit

If the 6950 is £300 plus i'm going to go for this 470 card, I dont know if I should risk the wait to find out though and i'm tired of my 8800GTS bottlenecking my new system

Thing with the 470 - out the box there are better value for money cards in that price range... its when overclocked that it comes into its own - nothing can touch it there... and while the SoC has a nice overclock out the box its far short of what the card is capable of.

I understand but what I dont get is this, the next card down is the 470 OC its cheaper but its slower and has a lesser cooling solution. I'm happy paying more for the better cooling and slightly faster card

What I want is a card that will play at 1080p with AA on at a decent framerate for under £300, i'm honestly not fussed on overclocking, the 8800GTS 640 is only just showing signs of its age and I paid £320 for that 3 years ago and its never been overclocked

It's a big assumption that:
a) the 6950 will be £300 or less
b) that there's a 6950
c) that it'll be much faster than a 470
d) that the Nvidia card's prices won't drop on 6xxx release.

So, as you've waited this long with your 8800GTS, another month or so can't hurt?

i recently got a Gigabyte 470 SOC and overclocked it to 800/1600/3600 @ 1.062

there was a performance increase but it wasn't really that significant from the default of 700/1400 and it added a good 7-10c to the load temps

ive decided to keep mine at 750/1500/3600 @ 1.037
