H forum,

Anyone got one of these dell 30" monitors if so whats it like?

Ive read a few different reveiws but would like top hear some of this forums thoughts

I don't have one (I have an HP ZR30W instead - see thread), but the thing that would put me off the Dell 3008 is primarily the input lag, which is measured at around 40ms. If you're not gaming this might not be such an issue, although the mouse may feel a little sluggish. For fast-paced FPS games it will be quite a drawback though...

But really, the 3008WFP is around three years old now. The replacement 30" Dell screen (the U3011) is superior in pretty much every way, and should be hitting shops here any day now. If you're set on a Dell 30" screen, then the U3011 is well worth looking at. The HP ZR30W is a slightly cheaper alternative to the U3011. They use the same panel, so image quality is very similar, but the U3011 has more inputs (native HDMI), and has more scaling features which will be useful if you plan to connect external blu-ray players or a console. The ZR30W has a much lower input lag though (11ms vs 27ms on the U3011).

I have had 3 of them in total

Ended up returning them , when I pay over 1K for a monitor I expect it not
to bleed light like crazy for the edges

Anyone know if the U3011 is going to be a crappy 16:9 screen or a decent 16:10 ?

It's 16:10 - The same 2560*1600 resolution as the other 30" screens.

If it's anything like the ZR30W then it won't have backlight bleed or brightness uniformity issues.

Here is a review of the U3011.

They're brilliant. Are you looking for anything to be good in particular? Or just that it doesn't have any known major flaws?

No just wondering as I bought it earlier today,

Not sure I will even notice the input lag but for 1.5 k I would not expect light bleed,

*bangs head on desk*

Why do people ask for buying advice after they've bought the product? :p

Top top tip: If you have no problems with it, don't go on the Internet searching for them. You'll only succeed in making yourself unhappy with your purchase.

I was really just wondering as I think it will be a good buy,

Just wanted to know what other people thought

Cheers

For what its worth, I own 3 of them which I use for eyefinity. Only recently in the last week bought the 3rd.

To be honest I would not go back to another monitor. I don't notice the lag and they do bleed a little. But not a massive amount. Its mostly on each edge top & bottom.

But again not noticeable unless the screen is completely black. Only reason I see bleed is when I change the input from one connection to another. As one of them is connected to 2 PCs.

£1.5k?!

Where on earth did you buy it from?! They can be found for barely more than £1000...

Also... You should really ask these questions BEFORE you make the purchase! :p If I were you, I would send the screen back under DSR, and use the money to buy a Dell U3011 instead. The U3011 is available on pre-order for £1230. Why spend more on an out of date screen?

EDIT: The U3011 can be found IN STOCK for less than £1200. There is absolutely no reason to keep the 3008WFP, especially if you paid such an extortionate price for it.

Refuse it on the door and then you don't even have to pay the postage back
Yes Delpy, do that ASAP! (or cancel over phone?). It will be a bit of a pain if after a couple of months you decide you wanted the U3011.

i have a dell U2711 (6 weeks or so), and Very pleased with it, but I would have gone for the 30" version if only i knew about it. too late now I guess!

If you can find one the 3007 WFP-HC is a top monitor. The only fault I can find with mine is the lack of inputs. It only has a DVI-D input. Although this supports HDMI, many other monitors give the option of VGA etc.

That aside the monitor is great for gaming with an 8ms response time and many agree it's superior than the 3008 for gaming.

You must have a lot of space (and money) !!!

Im hoping my new U3011 will be arriving tomorrow (the magnitude of inputs was what swayed me - even majority of 27" screens dont have many)

Only heard great things about this screen - always been impressed with my 2005? and 2407 previously
