Hello all.

I've selected these parts for my new gaming rig, and I'd like your opinions. I'm concerned mainly with how economical and powerful the chosen parts are.

With a case, dvd re-writer and windows 7, the entire rig comes in at under £800. How good is this system? Your advice would be appreciated!

+1 on that HDD. Get a sammy spinpoint F3 500GB instead. With the money saved substitute that i3 for an i5 760. With £800 you should be looking at better than a dual-core to go with that 470. Also you can get 1600MHz rated RAM for the same price as what you've chosen.

Spot on with the HDD and for £800 you should be getting more for your money.

Possible "Modular" PSU substitution.Sapphire Pure 625W Modular
 
Ok, how does this look for a wee bit over budget.

Case is personal preference but I think its a pretty good one (bit biased as I've got the orginal CM690). If you intend to buy this case may be worth checking out this. Bundle comes with a slightly better more powerful psu for same price.

Note. i5 760's are on offer and at time of posting 4 available at that price.

What he said, i5 760 is more futureproof (imho)

Excellent, nice to hear. i5 with a 470 is a fantastic gaming set up. Just remember to post some pics of all those pretty boxes when they arrive and the build as you go along!

Just seen the these have dropped in price. Could send a web-note or something to ask if they could swap with the memory spec'd above. It's only a fiver cheaper but hey. Also the price on the graphics card has increased too overnight (may have been a today only deal).
 
Yeah you can't go wrong with boxers setup there. As previously said, an i5 with 470 for gaming is pretty awesome. Will keep you going for a while! And as boxer also said, please keep us posted on the build, cheers:D
