So, my missus is dragging me along to her cousins Christening on sunday followed by everyone going the pub. Thing is, I only know 2 others that are going, and thats her mum and dad.

Now, I am unsure what to wear, I'm debating the following.

1) Smart - Trouser, purple shirt and tie, Jacket, shoes.

2) Smart/Casual - Dark straight leg jeans, stylish shirt and smart trainers.

3) Casual - Worker jeans, standard t-shirt and normal trainers.

Which option would you guys choose?

P.S. option 3 is a joke ;)

if you dont want to go then option 3 tbh

if u do want to go how close is the family member whos baby's getting christened?

if very close then 1

if not then trousers and shirt no jacket

The last Christening I went to, I wore jeans, shirt and a pair of jeans, I was also heavily hungover, yet I was a 'god-parent'

Regardless of my personall religous beliefs, I went along wiht theirs (hers) as I consider this friend a brother.... One word of adice, do not turn up hungover, the preist will tell a story or 10. Wish I didn't, looking back my mate chose me as a 'god-father, and even though religiosly means nothing to me, culturally it does. Also, I've been pushing too many pencils to the limit

You wore two pairs of jeans?

Damn I hate it when you're expected to push pencils to the limit :(

He-he I missed my mates first sons christening (turned up a little late), but some how got chosen to be god-parent to their daughter. Made it to that one luckily. Although felt very odd lying to a priest and saying I had been baptised and followed the faith and all that

I'm a godfather.. I just hope they (real parents) don't die in a horrorific car crash! I didn't have to say a word and this was a catholic ceremony... The things you do for mates, eh?

My expereince was similar, yet this priest, who was african and an arsenal supporter, tried to make moral points that tenuously linked both points, and then he tried to blackmale(lol) us into turning up for mass ever sunday, as my god-sons soul was at stake while using these two points. He failed. Let's be honest. No one enjoys the ceremony, right?

I don't understand the need for non-religious people to baptise their kids, I never was, my parents, explained all major religions to me at an early age, well to a point that I could understand anyway.

........addition, don't forget, wedding crashers, if you're single then there is opportunity everywhere especially at a christening, biological clock and all that..........

kk! :D

Is it in a church?

As a weekly churchgoer, it never ceases to amaze me what people think is appropriate dress for a Christening. You get the full range, from women in micro clothes who look like they're off clubbing, to men in 3 piece suits... And I'm there in church in jeans and a t-shirt.

I guess my point is... don't dress up just because you're going to church. Ask your fellow attendees, as it's them you need to fit in with, not the congregation.

People think the magic water will make their kid go to heaven, and the church for some inane reason entertains this idiocy.

Yeah, I don't believe in infant baptism.
