Got my retail copy yesterday.

This is going to be the new best port from Capcom :D Slightly better than RE5 technically. It also has the same perfect control scheme where it switches on the fly between mouse+kb to 360 controllers (wireless & wired are flawless). DX11 looks pretty amazing in places the tessellation on some of the boss creatures is amazing the detail is impossible to capture in screenshots though as so much smoke/debris/atmospheric FX. This has the best ingame fire VFX so far on PC as well. Some of it is stunning like a movie in places graphically.

Gameplay is really 4 player Co-Op based in SP modes although with 3 AI is very doable. MP is the main part of this game & there is plenty of options/customisation including Local LAN & lots of options to configure almost all aspects of the game but especially graphics, controls & network options. No Split screen Co-Op but Local LAN via System Link is supported.

Cannot believe this only cost me £17.95 as well for retail via a popular e-tailor :D

If you love silly OTT Japanese sci-fi with the most insane bosses ever made in a computer game & the usual Capcom Japan goofy humour & strange quirks then this is the game to buy. Plenty of weapons & Vital suits to jump into as well as futuristic helicopters & other vehicles to drive. It also uses the latest MT Framework 2.0 which utilises Core i7 all 8 threads as well as Tri-SLI out of the box (its an Nvidia TWIMTBP title so also has 3D Vision). If you could run RE5 then this will be fine as its the exact same Capcom Japan team who coded this.

PC version (its not a port just held back until the console versions were finished) also has tweaked gameplay to make it easier as it was rock hard on the consoles & because it is MP based failed miserably so Capcom made a massive loss on this as it sold less than 100K copies worldwide on PS3/360 as they also could not handle the FPS & LOD at all without massive slowdowns :(

This game is not perfect but its also a lot of fun & contains plenty of VFM & replayability as you can unlock Gears Of War, Dead Rising & Bioshock characters ingame as well as lots of other features like a slot machine game to buy MP gear with your SP earned credits etc etc. Comes on 2 DVD9's as well so needs 12GB HD space.

1920x1200 DX11 Max Everything except for 2xMSAA (it does up to 32 but you need a supercomputer for that in places!). Some ingame textures are obviously 720P low res & some are high res PC its a strange mixture like Capcom ran out of time/money to do all textures @ a PC high res.

Textures on some levels better than others

Game is a mixed bag graphically. DX11 again max everything @ 1920x1200.
Most of it looks good, some looks dated due to low res console textures & then some levels look really good :D DX11 definately makes a visual difference ingame it seems much clearer these jpeg screenshots do not really show the ingame artwork off as its got a lot of atmospheric FX/Debris in most scenes as well but the screenshots are not capturing it very well.

How is it alone with AI in single player?
Its fine Capcom tweaked the AI so its now very playable. On consoles the AI was a disaster. But this game is more about Co-Op fun & MP the SP is pretty awesome though & some of the MP maps are incredible.

Space based one with rocket jumping & zero G is amazing as is another set under water :D

Knowing Capcom's past game release trends, I'm going to hold out and wait and see if there will be a "Gold Edition" and get that version instead (Bought Colonies Edition of the first game for PC for that same reason). Though seeing the poor reception that this game has, that might be unlikely, but you never know.

Am tempted to pick this up when it is released on Steam in a few hours:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/45750

Is the online co-op the main campaign with buddies or smaller seperate missions?

Nope the MP is the main aspect of the game. Co-Op is for the SP campaign but its fine on SP with AI as well. It also has a training mode. You can do any mission with Co-Op either 4 humans or a mixture of AI/Human.

I would say its:
25% SP/Training Missions where you can mess around
75% Co-Op/MP

SP I have played on my own for about 12 hours since yesterday & still not completed it (this is on easy as well BTW its hard in places typical Japanese tough gameplay!).

Steam dropped the ball here as right now they have had to remove the game from sale as they pushed the wrong patch out earlier  (retail instead of digital patch out!). So lots of people on Steam are upset as they cannot play this at all its asking for the DVD (on the downloaded version!). Obviously they did not bother testing beforehand which is a joke. Steam buyers can still play SP offline until its fixed though. The fix should happen later today but its a crazy thing to happen to such a big release & this is happening a lot on both Steam & GFWL lately its silly & really needs to be sorted out. Sony's Securom is the problem here as its applying disk check DRM to all versions instead of the retail only

Retail version like mine are fine though :D

I bought it on the PS3, it was a rotten game.
Which is why Capcom re-coded the PC version & tweaked all the gameplay modes as well as adding DX11 + 3D & more customisation options.

This game is suited to PC's more than consoles as they have poor MP & cannot handle this type of game very well as their dated gfx cards & hardware are a major handicap.

PS3 is especially poor for Capcom games as their MT Framework engine really struggles on it (which is why I sold mine 2 years ago it became obvious the PS3 will always be a poor mans X360 apart from the odd Sony game which uses the Bluray drive capacity the rest are pretty poor & the PC naturally leaves both a long way behind).

That could only be the case if the PS3 was cheaper than the 360 which it was not so the poor mans X360 is void.

Tempting. I only ask because I rather go through the game SP alone first time then do it with people, same as I did with RE5.

I really enjoyed Lost Planet, I'll probably get this next week perhaps. Thanks for the info.

Game scored 68/100 on 360/ps3, and console gamers always have lower expectations than pc gamers. So that's a pass.
