Do you think i have a point ? (Virgin Media)

I made a phone call to them today. I was paying £30 per month for 10mb broadband, medium TV and a phoneline with free envening and weekend calls.

I told them I was leaving and they let me have free calls to 0870 & 0845 numbers (costs £1.50 per month), free voicemail and new phone number (sick of random calls). I'll now be paying £25.99 per month. Not much of a difference but then I had no intention of leaving, it just illustrates that its worth making a phone call.

I've been with them for 4 years.

Good good, I know a lot say if you're under contract they wont budge. But that's generally not the case. I'm currently recieving Sky for half price, as when i phoned and told them i wanted to cancel they offered me the deal for 6 month. I obviously took it.

Also when i worked the call centres(I try and forget this) We were essentially told that we could match current pricings to existing customers in order to keep them happy, as keeping customers happy and with the company is target number 1 in the end.You don't make money with unhappy customers, because as soon as they're out of contract they will move.

I'm posting this here as it's not a technical question.

I'm currently paying £25month for 10mb broadband via Virgin Media.
Been looking on their site the last few months and "new" customers
get 10mb broadband for £15 for the "first 3 months" (which is fine) but then
they get it for £20 month for the rest of the time.

I'm all for promotions but to then lower their bill to £20month while im paying £25month seems a tad, er wrong. what do you guys think?

PS- I'm not interested in people who will say its cheap compared to what dialup cost 10 years ago. im more intersted in why im paying £5month more than other people lol.

anyway i've fired an email off to virgin stating im not happy and i will be switching provider if my bill isnt altered to £20month.
cheeky ******* ...

Your temperature being taken German style my friend. I have been with virgin for 5 years they upped me to 10mb last year my bill went to £20.
Ring them up if that doesnt work cancel your direct debit cancel and your agreement give it a day and say hey i want to join what deals you got.

yes virgin media seem to have this variable pricing system where they like to charge 'as much as they can get away with' only dropping bills to customers who complain about it, you may have to phone them too, emails don't really 'scare' them :)

Just checked my last bill

I think a call to them is in order, here's my current bill for my 'Bundle': -

Line Rental £11.99
Phone, Bband XL & TV Discount -£17.00
TV Size: M £0.00
Broadband Size: XL £37.00
Paper Bill Charge £1.25

Total £33.24

Unless people think this is reasonable?

Don't use the phone, nothing plugged into it, it was just cheaper at the time to take it and get a discount.

I wonder if they would give me 50Mb for the current price I'm paying, Mmmmmm.....?

So you get the XL 20mb internet for £37, minus the £17 Bband XL & TV discount of £17

so thats £20....

same as everybody else is paying.

The XXL internet is £28. If you want it, pay it. Its only £8 a month extra. And theres no alternative to paying the phone line rental as if you switch to a BT line for ADSL you ... have to pay line rental then. There's no getting out of it.
