I like the look of the speck cases, which just shield the body however I'm not entirely sure if they'll fit this MacBook. Any suggestions on what case is best to buy?

The MacBook is the latest 13" on the Apple site (haven't got the model number at hand).

Cheers :)

The latest Speck cases fit fine. I've got one on mine.

Look on the Speck website and then search using the model/part number. It can be had for around £30 compared to £39.99 direct from Apple.

Speck case for me too.

I have one of these:

Seems very well made and only set me back £20 :)

btw, there's quite a difference between sleeves/zip cases and body shields. I went for a zip case because the only time it needs protection is when in my bag, travelling around. I don't want anything scratching against it or knocking it, so I went for a quality case rather than a shield.

Why take such a gorgeous laptop and cover it in tacky plastic? Just be careful with it and make sure it's in a decent bag/sleeve when you carry it around?

Edit: Looks perfect, apeZ

The hard case so is to protect it even when in use.

This is my bag. :)

What on earth do you do it to for it to need protecting in use? My ~1 year old MBP is in pristine condition needing nothing than an occasional dusting down and screen wipe!

I make wedding albums on the train (1.5 hours each way), its why I bought it, making use of my time.

I might be careful, the guy next to me with a suitcase might not.

In some ways I agree but I'm so scared that I will scratch my MBP or dent it some how I'm not willing to take the risk :)

I have that and it's great, holds a lot of stuff and has many compartments. I used to have over the shoulder messenger bags but them things just hurt after a while.

I would stay away from Speck hard cases, they are notorious for scratching products; not just MacBooks but also iPhones. (I've read a bunch of negative reviews about them especially for the MacBooks)

i have had a speck hard case on my MBP since i got it with train journeys and trips to the US and Europe in with the mix the Speck case has a few major marks on the bottom and top yet my MBP is in mint condition no scratchs at all

I understand wanting to show off the unibody when in use but I personally don't care of showing it off, I want to protect it.

same here its a laptop after all no need to add the fact its a Macbook to advertise it, some times i wish i could turn the apple light of on the lid :)

I use to use the speck seethru satin (black) on my MBP 15". I have stopped using it now because a lot of dust collects between the case and the metal which leave black marks on the aluminium. I managed to get the marks of with some isopropyl alcohol, but I have lost confidence with the speck case since.
