Ok, I put this in the windows section, because I dont get the error in Linux, only Windows and so since Windows is the cause, thats where I feel it should be.

I have also asked this question a while back but I had no satisfactory finish.

Basically I cannot get the LAN port to comunicate with the outside world.

I can use a Lan Card but why should I have to?

The Lan Port works perfectly fine under Linux, but NOTHING I have done, will get it to talk in Windows. The drivers definitely get it working, its just that it tries to get an IP but it fails. Even when I give it a legal IP it still fails to talk. Permanently showing a yellow triangle

I have tried to use a multitude of various drivers ranging from the original CD all the way up to the latest drivers, I have now tried all versions of XP, Vista and hell, I even toyed with Win7 and all in both 32 and 64 bit flavours ( But I dont really have a spare licence for W7, so I took it off )

Its absolutely stupid and I really dont have a clue as to what to try out next?

Anyone got any suggestions?

ADDITIONAL

Sorry, Im having a moment here...

I said that its got a Yellow marker... I dont know why I said that. I must be tired... It has NO YELLOW MARKER and yet it says its connected etc, it just wont ... Data goes to the LAN but nothign comes from it...

OK?

Sodding buggering hell.

And just now, I went to watch a movie from my Server and I saw the LANPARTY listed among the PCs?

So its clearly letting itself be shown?

So, I ran back up and switched it back on, and I shared D: and sure enough its there.

I ran back up and its still teh same... NOTHING? WTFFFFFFbloddyF can it be?

So the drivers are installed, and windows claims it has an IP and an internet connection, but you can't get the internet to load? Yet you can share files on the network?

First thing, have you tried a different router to rule that out?

So the drivers are installed

Yes, and I have tried many versions

and windows claims it has an IP and an internet connection

It claims that there is a connection yes, but the IP is always wrong.
I manually set the IP and it makes no difference at all.

but you can't get the internet to load?

No, nothing. Data goes to the network, but Data received is always ZERO

Yet you can share files on the network?

No, I get nothing, but the downstairs PC sees this one on the network.

Its as if its a one way thing, but the fact that I can acces its files from a different PC says that externally it is 2 way.

First thing, have you tried a different router to rule that out?

The fact that I have multiple PCs and that this PC is only temporarily plugged up on my bench, along with other PCs that each all share the internet, and they are all connected to a switch and that this is the one PC thats having this trouble none of the others, and also that this does have such stupid issues when running Linux, only Windows, says that the issue cannot possibly be with the router.

I have however seen some really stupid things happen and the router was indeed swapped over last night from a Linksys to a Netgear. However this was while I was sorting out the Wireless adapter for it, and the Netgear does not have a good enough range ( Even though its a rangemax ) and so, I have swapped it back to the Linksys.
