Hi forum,

Im wondering which board would be better for overclocking,

The P6X58D has all the usual Asus overclocking tools like turbov etc
But the saber tooth only seems to have the intel extreme tuning tool,

Anyone got the sabertooth?

Managed to reach 4.5GHz on this beast, not recommended for 24/7 but had to get the extreme heat from somewhere!

WOW that's good

Lol and iv reached 4.6Ghz on the P6X58D-E. Bare in mind cooling is a key factor, on air you would need a very good clocking low volt cpu for very high clocks.

Basically read up on both sets of features, decide which is the right one for you and then buy that one, for overclocking they will both be exactly the same. Both motherboads run cool so no issues with over heating mobo's at all for either.

So its down to what features you want, both are very similar, and looks of the mobo too if that is important to you.

4.6 thats great,

I really prefer the PSX58D as it look better and has all the asus stuff im use to like the turbov Ive checked the asus spec sheet for the sabertooth and it does not have this

Overclocking in the bios is always best though, so doing that both are identical in performance, can't speak for that intel tuning tool though, never used. Rarely even use turboV either.

So basicly ignore max overclocks really, most top mobo's can reach those levels no matter of brand. As both are roughly the same price, go by what you need from a mobo, if thats the software it comes with that you are comfy with then that is a key factor.

Both are excellent mobo's and you won't be disappointed with either of them.

both board perform really well

the sabertooth has better chipset cooling

its really down to which one looks the best in your opinion.

they have the exact same bios layouts too.

If your case can fit either of these im about to suggest, they are cheaper and better to use.

Thermalright Silver Arrow
Noctua NH-D14

Both a good £20 cheaper then the H70, and will work better, but only if you have low heatsink memory, and the case is big enough.

Its not the highest heat sinks iv seen, but probably would interfere abit, so i guess the H70 would be better due to the memory, unless someone else can verify it works with them. The case is no problems though, just the memory.

They look to be identical specification aside from the Sabretooth having better cooling solution and military grade caps.

It could be all gimmick but if I was buying now I'd get the Sabretooth over the P6X58D-E no question.

Better cooling? im still waiting for evidence of that, as my mobo comfortably sits sub 40c, under stress has never gone over 47c, and thats with all case fans set to there slowest. So i could have that lower if needs be too.

So the argument of better cooling means nothing until someone shows the evidence of that.

Edit:
Just read on asus's facebook page that someones sabertooth runs at 70c underload, better mobo cooling my backside haha.
