I've always been interested in driving sims, but never took the jump to buy a steering wheel.

Since I'm all gamed out in other genres, I've decided to take the jump. I was wondering what Wheel/games would you recommend?

I would like to spend around £100 for the wheel, so which is the best bang for buck?

Thanks in advance!

Driving force gt is about £80 - might be difficult to find though in the run up to gt5. Other good option is thrustmaster ferrari f430.

For £100 or less the DFGT as mentioned is pretty much the best, other than that you've got the G25 if you can find one cheap (heard rumours of them going for silly money on ebay?) or G27 or a Fanatec wheel, or others if you want to go really silly :p

As for the sims themselves, there's effectively 3 options right now:

Live For Speed, ok but never really impressed me overly

rFactor, as stock it's poor, but with mods it can be fairly good, I personally dislike the time/effort spent finding the 'right' mods to make it any good though

iRacing, really quite expensive but (imo) in a class of it's own for the time being (rFactor 2 might change that, who knows)

There's also netKar, never tried it but it's supposed to have the best tyre/chassis model of the lot, but development is slow, it's lacking in some other area's and the online stuff is dead...

Get f1 2010, it is buggy but still one of the best driving games out there and it automatically detects the dfgt which is nice. :)

Not even remotely a sim though, I agree it's a good game and works well with a wheel, so well worth trying but not gonna satisfy the sim 'itch' so to speak :p

I remember the days of the Logitech G25 being around £100, i wish i picked one up then.

so do i!

i play live for speed quite a bit, can be good fun, quick and easy to get into.

Richard Burns rally is still the only proper rally sim, that is getting old but still worth playing, can be got for under a fiver, i still play every so often.

I keep meaning to install and get into RBR, but never quite managed it, bought it ages ago off the bay for pittance, installed it, fired it up and thought 'ooh, this seems good' and then never really played it again :p
