When you've just brushed your teeth, do you wash your mouth with water, or just spit out the toothpaste or leave it in there?!

I've always wondered is it better to leave it on there for a bit to let it work better or?!

Sometimes a dentist will advise smearing some toothpaste onto your teeth or not rinsing after brushing. I assume its something to so with absorbing fluoride or something from the toothpaste.

Better to leave it.
Spit it out, and then wipe your mouth, walk away.
Leaves higher fluoride conc around the teeth, so the restorative process continues for longer.
Also better to brush after breakfast than before for similar reason (folks will argue the issues of acid wear immediately after brushing - rather some wear than holes in teeth)

As long as you are not swallowing lumps of toothpaste, and have no retardation that would stop a normal spit action, then best to spit out, and leave it.

Rinse, then floss if I can be arsed.

I read somewhere that you're not supposed to rinse after you're done, as it's better to leave the toothpaste on your teeth.
