MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II

only if silence is worth £30 to you? but it lloks like the cooler doesnt vent hot are straight out the back.

Thanks

seems that they are exactly same "military class" components so as you state, £30.00 for better cooler.

Kinda hoping that they were cherry picked cores but being realistic, heat is one of the major drawbacks of the Fermi 470/480 range, so may still be worth it.

From your previous reply, are you suggesting that if not externally venting, the benefits of a better cooler are wasted:confused:

As stated, my case (Antec P182) is well vented to front/rear/top and as such, would this generally deal with the increased internal heat:confused:

Many Thanks

yes, that special cooler has open sides and doesn't funnel the heat through the card and out the back like a stock/reference cooler does.

I have no experience of your case and its cooling capacity, if the heat is mostly left in the case from that cooler, then surely the fans will have to spin faster/louder to cope with the increase in heat?

To be honest, if I close my eyes, I could be sat on an aeroplane:D

Not too bothered about noise and certainly when gaming, it is never an issue.

I suppose the question is:-
Based upon the differing designs, is the Frozr cooler still more efficient but by a reduced margin or as doesn't generally appear to be the case, is the stock cooler the optimum design for most people due to its external venting?

Out of interest, which non reference coolers(pre-fitted) do vent externally-if any?

Many Thanks

The Twin Frozr II cooler is excellent. I've only used it on the GTX465 but it ended up running way cooler than even a reference GTX460, and those were meant to be cool.
