Drug addicts across the UK are being offered money to be sterilised by an American charity. Project Prevention is offering to pay £200 to any drug user in London, Glasgow, Bristol, Leicester and parts of Wales who agrees to be operated on.

Project Prevention founder Barbara Harris admitted her methods amounted to "bribery" but said it was the only way to stop babies being physically and mentally damaged by drugs during pregnancy.

i.e. Great Britain isn't a country entirely populated by morons and religious fundamentalists.



Howver . . . I would very much like to see this bribe extended to Sky subscribers and people who look at the Sun, the News of the Screws and the Daily Wail and to readers of the Times.
 
is this for real? people don't stay drug users forever in a lot of cases, imagine the court cases these people will be faced with from recovered and recovering addicts who want to start a family
 
As long as it is voluntary, surely it is their choice?

After all, our social security system bribes people for behaviour that is counter productive already...

Drug addiction is considered a mental disorder though, someone who's drowned in opiates is hardly thinking straight. Not saying that it wouldn't be beneficial to society mind...

Waving £200 in front of a drug addict and when they bite claiming it was their choice? You could probably get them to saw off their own foot for little more.
