Hi,

My sister has asked me to sort her out a new computer, previously she's had various laptops and cheap desktops. Not sure what she does to them but they seem to last couple years max before they are beyond repair. I'd like to sort her out with something decent which should last her a while. I've built a few computers before buy I'm not up on the latest stuff spec wise.

From the computers she's had previously she already has monitor, keyboard mouse etc so only need the box.

She mainly uses it for internet/office etc but I think she does sometimes play games such as the Sims, roller-coaster tycoon etc so it needs to be powerful enough to handle those type of games

Would anybody be able to suggest some specs within that price range?

Many Thanks

Dane-don't need to include for OS at the moment, option 2 looks good, would prefer to go with intel.

Thanks

Yes you could buy the ignition, not bad to be fair, as I said before the onboard gfx will be fine for those sort of games so by not getting gfx card youre still in budget

i wouldnt recommend the 335, terrible case for £33

for the sake of a branded psu, you are removing a far superior component from the system and at no saving either.

if no gpu was preferred i would go for the asgard case, stick with the cheaper ram and save yourself £40.

How do you work that out? The coolermaster is v good case, just cos its a few years old its not automatically crap

Given what the OP stated at start

Not sure what she does to them but they seem to last couple years max before they are beyond repair. I'd like to sort her out with something decent which should last her a while

I think the inclusiuon of a quality PSU is paramount actually
OCZ RAM is notorious for being DOA of late, to be fair its a year or so since bad batch but Id still avoid it, for the sake of a tenner you can get faster better RAM
Also the UD2H is better mobo

i worked it out when i bought one. very flimsy, for the price range the asgard is a superior case, it doesnt come down to airflow etc at this price point.

as for the ram problems etc, there hasnt been any problems with the latest batches and all items bought from ocuk will be covered by a warranty anyway.

tbh its totally up to the op, if onboard gpu is fine then opt for that, if its not enough it will be easily upgradable in the future.
