Hello,

I have a Macbook with 10.4.11 with 1Gb of RAM i need to update to the latest version of Safari 5.0.2.

As i understand it to get to the latest version of Safari i need to update the Mac OS to version 10.6.3 ?

I have the 10.6.3 disk, can you just perform a simple upgrade without loosing any of the data/user files on the mac book ?

Currenlty the macbook has 10.4.11 with Safari 4.1.2. Do i really have to upgrade the OS just to update the internet browser ??

Thanks for the help.

Yes, it probably does require some core OS stuff in newer versions of OSX that just aren't in older versions.

Not sure about the in place upgrade, but sensible people back up first anyway.

Thanks for the info, i will be sensible and back it up.

Can u just confirm that this is correct also,

10.4 - Tiger

10.5 - Leopard

10.6 - Snow Leopard

Am i right ?

Just to update the thread it worked great.

Updated to 10.6.3 no problems all the data was there after the upgrade.

Then a software update to 10.6.4 :)

Thanks for the help.

The standard option on the disk, with no changes made, will upgrade your Mac and leave everything else as is. Takes about half an hour :)

Back up in case, but I've never had it go wrong.
