Hi guys,

Just a quick heads up that Amazon have a discount on a lot of their BBC dvds / blu-rays.

I've just picked up Planet Earth and Yellowstone on blu-ray with at least a 60% discount on each. Enjoy!

edit: I hope this isn't classed as a competitor?

They're awesome series and look stunning in HD. I'd imagine that Blu-ray versions of these would look eye-poppingly beautiful. Thanks for the heads up.

Trouble is this rule in the FAQ is no longer clear due to things which have been said elsewhere on the forum which seem to contradict it. For example the Games forum nots that it is ok to talk about a competitor who has not got computer parts / console machines as a core business but not to link to them, e.g. Play or Amazon.

Hence Amazon would probably be fine to mention but not to link too ...

But the main FAQ indicates that that isn't the case. I suspect that the relevant section of the FAQ needs to be updated to reflect any changes in the rules since they were written? In the same way that the FAQ indicates that auction sites should not be mentioned but there are always threads about problems with the main one in GD.

On topic, nice find OP :)

Thanks for all the help re: competitors. I have read the FAQ and believe that Amazon always used to be considered a competitor, but I've seen it mentioned and linked to in other threads so was unsure if this was still the case. I'll leave the link there, and if a mod feels that I'm breaking the rules then the thread can be closed and I'll take the punishment (as long as my house remains intact).

Otherwise, I'm glad you've found the link helpful!

I think since OcUK don't sell Blu-rays then it's ok to talk about Amazon in this context.

I agree that the FAQ suggests otherwise though.

It's not about whether they sell Blu-Rays or not, it's about what else they sell.

It doesn't really matter what the FAQ say though, if a Mod comes along in a suitably enough bad mood i.e. no leg over last night, Monday blues, Hitler wannabe, etc, then expect to feel their wrath :p

Not my rules, I have just as much of a problem understanding what is and what isn't classed as breaking the rules in this regard as anyone else, hence why I said it depends on what mood a particular passing Mod may be in.

If I'm wrong and we are allowed to discuss what the said shop has for sale then fair enough, doesn't mean a lot to me, I'm just trying to save the OP some grief. :)

Edit: Out of interest (i.e. total boredom and idle curiosity), could a passing mod explain just exactly what the crack is regarding this, just so's we're all clear. Thnx :)
