2 new arrivals to our household! (Kitties Within!)

As a cat owner for many years I can testify that all ginger cats grow up to be complete psychopaths. Great fun though. Our ginger cat tried to kill me on many occasions. Good times...

aww they are still at the "eyes are scarily large" age. They grow up so fast. Ours are 5 months now and while they look huge to us, when we then see an adult up close we soon realise that they have a lot of growing left!

Just in case you don't know. Zooplus offer 10% off orders for new account holders. A new account is judged by the email address you use and not by the address the order is sent to ;) saved me £17 a few weeks back AND I got another £6 cashback on quidco!

Also might want to check out petforums.co.uk if you are interested. Lots of advice and data on foods and litter etc. Like kittens dont need kitten food, they can have cat food just fine. Also Whiskers and go cat and the like are full of stuff cats cant digest which is half the reason the poo stinks!

Thanks mate, they are 7-8 weeks old, Ben is already pretty huge for his age, and Lola is pretty tiny, you can feel her bones easily when you pick her up, but I think Ben has just grown quickly!

I've currently got some Dry food, 30% meat I'm trying to ween them onto, but they have spent their life so far on Mum's milk then wet food, so we are doing our best to slowly turn them onto solid food, he'll eat some of it, she won't touch it but loves a lick of 2 of water! :D

They are settling in well though, slept soundly last night, fight a lot, which is worrying when his giant frame pounces on little Lola, but she gives as good as she gets! :D Aside from a stray misplaced stool :o, things have been fine! :D

:D

Be careful with dry food. Cats by nature are not drinkers and so they get all the moisture they need from birds/mice they eat as a result they may not drink enough water as they actually need to help prevent urinary problems later in life.

We feed our three dry food, but its about 50/50 with wet to ensure they get enough water.

Also if you find your two having poo problems it's likely due to the rice/ other carb content in 90% of foods. Cats are protein whores.

best of luck! enjoy them while they are this small. Its by far the cutest stage.

I have a boy and girl that we have had for 4 months now. They are 6 months old this week. The boy weighs 3kg and the girl 2kg. She has had similar food so I just think its genetic. They play fight a lot and I was worried for the girl but she gives as good as she gets. Apple is the boy and Pip is the girl.

Thanks Mage, yeah they are going 50/50 right now, she is liking water, but him not so much, the idea is to get them liking the dry food and then mixing s bit of both to ensure they get everything they need in form if moisture and meat without too much poo blocking rice!

Thanks for the reassurance, I know they are only babies but feeling the thinness of her can be a worry, but I've not had a kitten in 16 years and as the first of our own, I have a tendency to over worry! I'm sure all is fine, she's a nutty little fluff ball!

Will add some more pics later if anyone would like? :)

Hehe aww :) they seem happy to playfully beat ten shades out of each other, and chases resulting in one head butting the washing machine or something else that makes you go  as they carry in unfusssed!

One thing I'm unsure on, pet insurance, we definitely want to get them insured, just wondered who you all use and who is recommended? Sadly when I had my last cat pet insurance wasn't really around so I'm totally clueless on it! :)

I actually went with Argos pet insurance! They got a very good write-up on pet forums. We got 4 week's free PetPlan insurance when we joined our vets but they didn't get that good a write-up.

It's about £6.50 for her per month and about £8.50 for him (boys are more likely to stray or get injured in fights). That's for Gold cover (there's silver, gold and bronze).

Mine are 5 months old now, still gorgeous though :)

Few more pics of the little beauts! :D

Just found out today that they are only 6 week and 5 days old! Ben is even bigger for his age now I guess!

Is there anything we should really watch out for with them being this young? I know its not "young" young, but we thought they were 7-7 1/2 weeks, so just wanted to make sure we are doing the ebst by them :) They are sleeping a lot, eating wet and dry food in small portions, drinking a bit of room temp water, toletwise Lola seems to be a bit more clued up as Ben has had a few mishaps, but nothing a wipe, some scentless cleaning spray and a big cuddle can't fix! :)

Just a small update, they are doing very well now, seem to be very happy after nearly 3 weeks, lots of playing, climbing, fighting, and cuddling :D Everyone is happy! :D and Ben is getting big and a bit tubby due to his stumpy legs :D lol
