Just looking for clarification on this item http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-273-AM

It clearly states only sold as part of a bundle or full PC system, I was wondering on the terms of the bundle e.g if I'm purchasing a motherboard the cpu and memory of my own choosing is that still considered to be as part of a bundle or are they only available only as part of the bundles ocuk sell?

If the latter is there any rough guess as to when this restriction may be taken away?

Cheers for any clarification :)

Hi,

The bundles ocuk sell them with are normally or from what I've seen based around good solid hardware. Whats the different board you are after?

It's part of there pre built bundles or systems.

Might be worth asking the customer section:

Thanks mate thats a shame but will try the customer section :)

Hey,

What features do the gigabyte boards bring to the table that the others don't? I presume they all overclock about the same?

I just wanted to do the overclock myself and save some money tbh ;)

Edit: also after checking again the board used in the bundle only has 1 pci-e 16x Id like 2. :(

Yeah I'd like to know this.
I was thinking of buying an AMD bundle but I want the Gigabyte 890gx motherboard.

I rang them up last Friday with the intention of ordering said bundle and asked if they could swap the motherboard out (I needed a board that could easily take a 3slot 4870x2 and a PCI soundcard, which the mATX can't do).

I'd made a thread in the "Product Suggestion" subforum about getting a bundle with a different motherboard and the response was to ring up the shop and they'll see what they can do.

So, full of hope the they would be able to accomodate my request, I rang up. Upon asking, I was informed, rather flatly, that it was not possible to swap out a motherboard in a bundle, so I didn't place an order.

I went to a competitor, who were more than happy to swap out the motherboard from their bundle but unfortunately I've had an issue with their overclock not being stable, so have to RMA the whole bundle.

Can't help but feel that if OcUK had been a little more accomodating with customising bundles that they would be £400~ richer and I would have a stable bundle in my PC right now. :(

Oh, in response to your question about the restriction, I believe it's AMD themselves who have said that the 95W is not to be sold unless it's part of a bundle, so I doubt it'll be lifted any time soon (certainly until all the 125W have sold).
As far as I am aware, it is only prebuilt bundles that can have the 95W included, rather than it just being a case of "buy any motherboard and you can get the 95W with it".

mmmm the 95W is on sale on its own elsewhere for cheaper...i was thinking of getting one myself.

Is this due to limited vrm capabilites as far as supply to the cpu goes? Kind of makes me wince away from itx and uatx, though I'm guessing some of the uatx boards actually have a decent setup?

gigabyte amd boards don't have vdroop which is great when overclocking. also i personlly think gigabyte boards have better feature, e.g dual bios, better bios layout
