I think I'll only be interested in the 6000 series if tessellation performance is improved upon drastically on what the 5850 can offer.

Is it just me or are people with 5*** series getting upset at this release, I dont think the 6*** series cards are aimed at getting 5*** series owners to upgrade
The only thing I think that has upset people is the naming convention, at best it's a serious oversight at worst it smacks of Nvidia tactics.
No-one will expect miracles with the 6xxx series as it's 40nm. I'm expecting cayman XT to be ~30% faster than 5870 but with much improved tesselation performance.

I'm not upgrading, i'm happy with my 5970. I see no point in upgrading your 5 series card to a 6 series.
