Download Full Version of Fable 2 for free!!

Get off your high horse and look up the definition of theft. The sad thing is, I bet you tried this as well. ':)'
Nah I didn't, I own the goty version which has the dlc as well. I just find it funny that piracy talk is banned but we're allowed to talk about exploiting a mistake to steal digital products.
I'm not on a high horse, but I do notice people condemning those who download movies etc but this seems to be acceptable when there's really no difference as far as I can tell.
The major nelson twitter advertising this said episode 1 was free (which it always has been) not the whole game so this is actually an exploit to commit theft, and I don't really care who downloads it I just don't see why it's within the rules to talk about it here but if someone mentioned a torrent download site or something like that he/she would be on holiday for a few days.

Oh and being as you told me to look up the definition of theft, I did

I don't see how this doesn't apply to the wrongful taking of personal property?

If you try to get this via the xbox it's £19.99, this topic has a link to get around the actual cost of the item.

Oh ok, I thought people were downloading 7gb of personal & intellectual property - just because it's digital doesn't mean it's non-existent.
When did the lines of theft become so blurry? It was so much simpler when I was a kid, you took something that wasn't yours to take = you stole it. Nowadays you take something from the internet and it's not stealing because it doesn't exist? Take that social decency!

I don't believe it was a mistake and even if it was they would've removed the ability to download it for free within minutes rather than hours/days. IMO it was done to increase interest in Fable 3 and looking through some of the posts on here it worked very well.

I received the game for accepting it at the offered free price. I did not steal it. Technically I did not take it, as that implies it was gained without permission. Whether it was a mistake or not is irrelevant. They offered the goods at the advertised price and I accepted that offer.

Your interpretation of what has happened here is wrong.

Oh well I'm sure there'll be something else we can exploit to steal from them pretty soon :)

If you click on something and it says it's free, How is that stealing?

It's a mistake on their end yes, but its still advertised as free when you browse directly to it while logged in.

Indeed, absolutely spot on..

It was offered at that price, it was accepted by us at that price..

If a high street shop misprices an item, and you buy it at that price, you are not committing theft, whether you knew it was mispriced or not, you are simply accepting the offer of sale..

Further more, when asked about it, MS even twitter'd away saying it was all legit etc (presuming it was the Episode 1 demo).. I mean, people even double checked and MS where adamant it was pukka, what more can people do?

Not sure why someone wants to get on their high horse about it....

Did not realise that having an opinion that was contrary to the masses was considered as being on my high horse. I don't even care who downloaded it I just think it's hypocritical being able to post stuff like this and yet we're all so anti pirate.
It's obvious that most people knew this wasn't legit, heck, this page started with 'got it free, peter owned'.
Last time something like this happened though, people were banned from xbl so there is a small risk involved and to be fair you had to do some jiggery pokery with links and signing in on the site to be able to get this 'offer'.
I really don't care who took it, it's not really my business but at least be honest about knowing it wasn't a legit offer instead of trying to convince yourselves that you're totally not in the wrong. I'm no saint but I don't lie to myself.
As far as the shop price being wrong = that's what you pay is totally right but I bet if it said £2 more than it should you wouldn't pay that :) However that is totally true so that's fine, I'm totally wrong. Weird how MS banned people who cashed in on the gears golden guns for 'free' error though, guess they see it differently?
Anyway this is far more than I'm normally comfortable with posting, this whole thing just sent my moral compass spinning is all.

When it was posted the website said Fable 2(FULL GAME) then a big green button saying FREE, so whats wrong with taking up that offer, there was no indication at the time that it was a screwup on there behalf, climb down from up there before you fall and hurt yourself.

I see where you are coming from, but there really is no hypocrisy going on. The encouragement of an illegal activity (e.g. Piracy) is most definitely not allowed, this is because, I suspect, it could have some repercussions on the forum owners.

However, despite being seeming morally wayward to some, downloading Fable II was not illegal so there are no issues.

This is right on the money. +1

Would you still see it as theft if it was purchased from a shop but went through the till at £0.00?

Well I'd definitely comment on it with the cashier and make sure it was right, for all I know (although I would know, really as I pay attention to offers when I'm in a shop - I'm just pretending that I might not be aware of the offer for the sake of argument) it could be the get one free of a buy one get one free promo and so going through at £0.00. However if I said nothing, kept my head down and left the shop before they realised their error then yes, I would see that as stealing.
Exactly the same as if the cashier gives me too much change, it's the cashiers mistake and if I say nothing then it will come out of that cashiers wages (as far as I'm aware) which means that that particular instance would be stealing from a minimum wager.
I understand what you're trying to do there and I see what your point is, I just don't agree with you, it's no big deal.
