Hello,
I dont really sell on ebay but the gf is having some issues so was after some advice.

She recently sold a pair of faulty hair straighteners on there, the day after the buyer left positive feedback to say that he had received them and she quickly received payment.

About 10 days later she receives a message to say that is yet to receive the item and that he will have to claim back from paypal if he does not receive the item soon.

Now shes pretty new to selling things on ebay, and she sent the item 1st class, not signed for or recorded, so there seems to be no way for her to track whether or not it has been received.

She has been to the post office that she sent it from, and they have given her a form to fill in but I dont know how far this will get her.

The buyer has all positive feedback, but he has also bought many of the same make of faulty straighteners around the same day as he bought hers, so Im not sure how he is telling which pair is which...

Anyone got any idea what she can do?

Thanks

Remove her bank details from paypal, that way she wont lose out.

Wrong. Paypal can still come after you.

Unfortunately by sending only 1st class, your gf is screwed, the buyer probably realised this so decided to play hardball.

Take it as a lesson learnt unfortunately.

 What's the problem? He's left feedback saying he had received them; tell him to get lost.

Its just a precaution to take.

Theres nothing stopping him claming the money back through paypal even when he has the straighteners sat infront of him.

So i suggest removing your details from paypal, then you cant just have the money taken away from you.

Not only would she lose out she would get debt collector fees as well.
Paypal will probably side with buyer although they may see the feedback.
Best thing is just try and get a claim of RM and in future read and follow eBay/paypal seller protection policy.

Paypal do not care.
It doesn;t matter if feedback has been received. There are 2 options, when asked.

Enter tracking number.
Or
I will take responsibility (Buyer gets full refund as you have no proof)

Surely there's the 3rd option of contacting them, depending on whether the OP can be bothered going through the hassle

Have tried in the past. Never got anywhere! And I am a business!

By all means give it a go, I stopped trying after the 3rd attempt. I hope it does work, let us know.

What "debt collector" fees? All they do is send you letters asking you to pay, they don't actually have any power.

In order to extract money from you they need to take you to court via the small claims track.

I wish people would stop saying that paypal have unlimited magically powers just because they are paypal. They're a private company, nothing else.

Win what? Paypal DCAs don't do court, google it, they just send a stack of letters and the occasional crabby phonecall and that's it.

You have his address. Pay him, then go to his house and cause damage which will come to double the cost of the hair straighteners. Got to cover travel costs...

during the paypal claim if you click buyer has already left posative feedback
case closed
