Anyone planning on any trips away this year?

Getting posted to Germany at the beginning of November, and hoping to get into the Army Championships for Snowboarding in Austria, just need to get a few things sorted once I arrive over there.

Probably be looking at getting my own equipment in the next week too, so can anyone recommend any sites for equipment, or do you think I should wait to be out in Europe? So far one of the sites I've been looking at has been The Snowboard Asylum, as there is one in Liverpool city centre.

Can anyone recommend any good resorts in the northern part of Germany too? Google's being a bit picky with results lol.

Can't wait for the snow :D.

Hoping to get out to Niseko in Jan/Feb - anyone have any tips on this area?

Also would like to squeeze in a few days in Europe at some point :D

Have you been snowboarding in Japan before? To be honest, it's one place I've never really considered, even though I know they have some good snowboarding out there.

Never but a few of the guys I met in Whistler last season are having a reunion there next year hence me trying to sort something out. I've heard that it snows 80% of days in Jan/Feb :0

I'd wait until you were out in Europe to get all your gear. Much cheaper and a better range aswell.

I know it's no good to you but the end of season is the best time to buy in resorts!

I'm hoping that ill be off to Canada in the new year for a few months and im going to try getting in a bit of boarding in Whistler.

Although ive heard good things about the Rockies side aswell!

European resorts are far more expensive for equipment and you've also got the poor pound/euro conversion rate.

I did a season in the French Alps this year and items were far more expensive when we compared to shops at home. Infact, a pair of leather gloves I bought at the start of the season in the UK were being sold in a French Resort shop at an even higher price during their end of season sale!

Looking to head into europe in the first week of 2011 but unsure yet half tempted by andorra anone been recently?

I'm in Austria first week of January and heading to Slovakia the 2nd week to the High Tatras mountains again. Amazing range and dirt cheap. Might try and get to Colorado for late Feb depending on work. My brother goes out there every year and can't praise it enough.

I'll be living in Wanaka still so June 2011 our season starts again, so a full season of boarding here providing no injuries. My mate dislocated his hip and damaged his nerves in the leg, 6th day of season this year... was sickening.

Quite possibly going to Meribel over New Years, and also may go again in late Jan/Feb or March to Les Arcs or La Rosiere.
