Looks as big as a 5830/70!!! Bigger than a 5850. Are you sure that's a 6850?

The 5770's, especially the short custom PCB versions, are so small compared to these beasts. The GTX 460's are smaller too. Hopefully some non-reference boards will appear.

Hope the power connectors are on the side.

Thanks for the follow up pic and link.

Well, even though it's longer than I expected, black PCB's do look sexy. I'm probably going to hold on to this 5770 however until I play games it can't handle. I may even go crossfire before jumping to these newer cards.

All a great read however. :)

Well i own a 5850 direct cu top which uses the same cooler i can say that pic (6850) the card is at least 1 inch smaller than my 5850.

it also looks like it takes 2x6pin pcie judging from the solder on the back PCB shot

I have a sneaky feeling these things are going to run hot.

it only has one. The pins are for show.

You can see on the pcb that theres two plastic pins coming through with only one set of those 6 solder points. IE only one of those two POTENTIAL 6 pin power connectors actually has a connector attached.

Rememeber, Barts is pin compatible with Cypress, meaning they can drop Barts into any existing pcb, and its 1inch shorter, at least, what rubbish. It looks identical to my 5850, although my 5850 CU has 1x8pin and 1x6 pin on it. Theres probably a couple revisions out there though.

Not really sure why people thought a card with a similar level of power and a 256bit bus would be dramatically smaller?

Looking at it again, yeah it is nearly identical in length to a 5850 and shorter than a 5830/70, so I stand corrected. :)

Never owned a 5850, so my eyes deceived me. That cooler design somehow made it look longer to me. Only one crossfire connector however - the 5850's had two didn't they?

I have always liked the look of the asus directcu cards. I'm guessing ASUS may make use of the extra 6pin with its overclocked cards for the 6850, similar to the way they needed an 6 + 8 pin for the non reference 5850 cards.

what are u on about the 5850 direct cu pcb sticks out from under the cooler cleary the pic above shows otherwise thus meaning it's shorter.

tell you what i wil bet you £5 it's shorter than a 5850 direct cu.

why don't you look at the 5850 cu the have a look and measure in scale in photoshop the pic in the OP it is clearly shorter

Now tell me which is longer :) (THE 5850 IS CLEARLY THE LONGER CARD YOU CAN SEE THIS SOLELY BY THE LENGTH OF THE PCI-E SLOT CONNECTOR )
Next time do some research before spouting such rubbish:p

Something that bothers me tho only one x fire connector (whats this mean no tri fire for the 6000 series)
