Can anybody recommend a reputable company for doing a full geometry setup in or around Bristol.

Are there any specialists as opposed to tyre fitters who do also do a bit of tracking?

Does http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/ show any locally?

They list all the places that have hunter alignment machines.

Obviously this won't be a "full geo", but do you really want your spring rates, rebound dampners, droop, etc etc played with, or are you just after a proper 4 wheel alignment (toe, camber, etc)?

If it's actually "full geo" you want, then no idea.

I've always gone to Pro Tyre down at the bottom of Lawrence Hill. Not sure how reputable the chain is but I've always had good service from them.

Did someone say geo ?

as others have said it depends what your after. Most garages will get it 'within spec' and call it an alignment or geometry check.

I don't know of any in Bristol with a huge reputation, but ill ask around for.you

I just want it all nice and accurate. I think spring rates etc is a little too far. Toe, camber etc would be adequate.

I have used a few places in Bristol now and it never seems to be perfect. Steering wheel not quite centre etc.

All the tyre places seem to say it's way out and adjust it even though I have had it done fairly regularly (i.e. with tyre changes) on the van.

I have been to Protyre before, they did my brothers alignment. Didn't seem too bad but still pulled to the left more than just from road camber.

That's who I've used before, were ok but I wasn't massively impressed with them to be honest. I'd just pick somebody from alignmycar or made the trip up to Powerstation as they seem to know what they're doing (that's who I'll be using once my new coilovers go on next week)

I've always used ProTyre, they have great kit but it does depend on the 'technician' you end up with. Some of the guys really know their stuff, but some of them barely know anything beyond looking at the screen and spannering.

If you're after a proper track suspension/geometry setup I know a few round this way :), but if you're just after basic alignment for a road car then I don't have a clue.

If you want to travel a tiny bit, Forza West in chepstow have a hunter machine and are a top class team. Transformed my 328 in stability terms.

Which ones?

I'm getting coilovers fitted next week so once I've messed around with the ride height I'll need a good geo place. Was gonna go to Powerstation but if there's somewhere closer I'll maybe try them

I *think* it's done by the hour so it depends on how much stuff there is to tweak on your suspension. If you can only adjust toe then it won't cost much but if you can adjust camber, castor, height, rebound and all that other malarkey then it might take all day I guess.

Protyre on the other hand check your car then report back what isn't in tolerance and each item they adjust incurs a cost (something like £15 per bit). I think my Boxster cost around £80 to get done and it wasn't really much different afterwards.

This was for Dad's Westfield, so has adjustable everything and absolutely no consideration for comfort :D.

Dave Pillinger Motorsport in Peasedown near Bath did all the initial work, set it up properly on the corner weights for Dad's weight and half a tank of fuel etc etc.
Dave's a nice bloke, some good competition history, and left me with the impression that he knew his stuff :).

Since then we adjust it ourselves at the track (well it's morelike Dad shouting "Oi Ed, can you give me two clicks all round and a little more rear ARB").

Track Developments are the other one I know, they're based near Castle Combe. I'd definitely for them without-question :). David Cooper and Dave Gallop (spotting a name theme here?) are both nice guys, and have great histories. Loads of Westfield guys have used Track Developments for setup work including us, and regularly have them at trackdays for technical consultancy and trackside support too.
They've actually traitored their engineering heritage and have a website  www.trackdevelopments.co.uk.
