What size would you recommend maybe an 850
An 850 will be fine for dual 470, a 780W might cope, but I wouldn't personally try it.

470 SLi very good cards alotho they get hot (105C) in my case but its not a aircooling case and will be putting them under water soon. very very fast crysis @ 1080x1900 looks soo good maxed out with no stuttering what so ever. Didnt look at what i was getting because i was too busy slevering over the sheer picture quality 
Whilst overclocking my 470's I melted my 24pin ATX connector into the socket of the motherboard, killing both of them in the process, this was with a Coolermaster CM850, which I'd been told would handle it "easily".
This is a known issue when overloading a PSU with high end graphics cards, it's up to you at the end of the day but I'd rather get a PSU that'll definitely work than risk it and end up buying a new PSU AND mobo.
