Does anyone know of any coolers other than the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro that will fit to an AM3 motherboard without the need to remove the otherboard from the case please?

Thanks

OCZ Vendetta I am pretty sure can fit using the clip thing for AMD boards without taking the mobo out.

X look in my sig for my CPU cooler I can OC my CPU to 4ghz with fan on max and hit 55c after 4hrs of prime 95 and with normal day to day gaming with a OC of 3.8ghz it hits 40-42 with fan on med

hope this helps

All coolers need a back plate. Even the ones that aren't supplied with one, should be used with one.

Wrong post is wrong. The standard fittings are perfectly adequate up to a certain weight, that's why not all coolers require an additional backplate.

Can you see any benefit to using a cooler without one, except for the slight reduction in cost for the manufacturer?

The contact resistance decreases linearly with mounting pressure, and a backplate allows considerably more pressure to be used without harming the board. This is a good thing,

I dont have to remove my motherboard on a system I spent hours putting together and use everyday so for me its a good thing. Also this cooler requires a back plate on Intel based motherboards but not AMD

Plus the test results speak for themselves across the various sites, they arent amazing but that wasnt a requirement and not what I expect from a £30 cooler, what I do expect is it to be easy to install and be quieter than stock, any cooler than stock is a bonus

I'll post back what I think of the Nero S when its installed and I run some basic tests over the weekend

I had this issue, a dremal and some steel wool later and all I had to do was remove my right hand side panel.

What motherboard?

My gigabyte GA890 came with a suitable backplate fitted, all I had to do was remove the plastic bracket on the component side and screw the Thermalright bracket through to that.
