Refurbishing chrome gear knob

Depends how thick the coating is but quite an easy task to sand it down from a low grit to a high one then use a metal polish. I doubt there is enough thickness to do this properly though.

Buy a replacement? Can't see them being that expensive, and its far less hassle...whilst you are having it rechromed what are you going to use to change gear?

I thought all EP3s had lacquered aluminium knobs. I had mine anodised, but it turned out to be an unsuitable material for cosmetic anodising and went a bit patchy looking.

Just buy a Skunk 2 or get one of the forumites over at CTRO to refurb it for you TBH.

Mine looks like the 1 in the link and if definitely aluminium. They are quite soft, mine looks quite shoddy and has become marked from the ring on finger.

Chrome? That must look naff:confused:

Get an OEM alu one, or as Danza said, the Skunk2 one, iirc the gears are etched red? Looks cool.

Show us a pic, as I said mine has load of small scratches and dents on it so not too sure how it would be refurbed? What others have done is to go out and get the knob from an S2000, ali and leather and looks much nicer.

Don't Honda use the same alloy knob on their Sport trims on other cars too? my old man's Accord has an alloy one which has a scratch on it and looks like it needs a bit of touchup then polish.

Sign up to the owners club and send it to Brencivic for 10quid, it will come back like new.:D

They get so dam cold in winter, lol.
