No HDMI Xbox Question

If I wanted to use my old Xbox 360 that had no HDMI output on my HD TV, would it be possible?

As far as I know you can't get HD via scart lead?

I will be playing it through my monitor at 1440X900 using a VGA cable so it wont matter much but I was just wondering.

EDIT - I've just noticed that the orignal cable that came with it has a TV and HDTV switcher. If I switch it to HDTV it'll run in HD? I thought you needed an actual HDMI cable and output to get true HD.

Probabily use the vga cable or if the tv has component in you can use that

I think u can get upto 1080i over that cable matey hdmi is just a cable type u can get hd over vga, hdmi or component

yes, it would be possible, but the picture will look nasty horrible, ( my ps2 will output to 1080P but the picture is atrocious )

no scart wont support HD, so it would be displaying 576i? or 480i? on the screen

Yes you can just switch it to the HDTV setting, the picture seems a little bit more grainy than HDMI but I think that it is down to it be analogue and HDMI being digital.

VGA/Component and HDMI all give you 1080p display options.
using component can make it look slightly jagged however i think it depends on the TV you are using. my tv (toshiba 37" 1080p Z3030D i think it was is fine while my mates LG is pretty crap)

Your pretty much stuck using component or VGA if the tv has a connection.

Another thing I'm confused about. I will be playing the Xbox 360 through my PC Monitor most of the time using just a VGA cable.

If I was to do this using an Xbox that did have an HDMI output but still using a VGA cable in the exact same way, would the picutre quality be any better?

Just asking because I'm not sure if the Xboxs with HDMI outputs handle it any different.

No it's the same with HDMI as without HDMI.
