Hey guys,

I am looking into buying a TV for my new apartment, currently have a very old samsung and its about time i changed, i will see huge differences and improvements as its over 4 years old now

so looking at a big site related to a rainforest =P

you can get right now:

LG 42LE5900 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 100Hz LED Internet TV with Freeview HD - £644.00

or

LG 42LE5300 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 100Hz LED TV with Freeview - £704.00

Now at the moment i can get £40 off.

I checked out LGs website and found the LE5900 is actually better yet its priced lower? what gives?

I need opinions anyone know about these sets?

What alternatives?

The 5300 can be had a lot cheaper than that, i was looking at that or a 50" plasma. I went for the plasma, but i cant give you any other advice im afraid.

Edit* There are a few things better on the 5900, Better contrast ratio and has a couple more inputs also has internet tv.

Thats what i find strange the better TV is less, which is obvious to what one ill go for.

It needs to be LED as this is going in the bedroom on the wall, eventually will get round to getting a lounge tv which maybe a plasma... as i game a lot in the lounge

It is on the site your looking on, the 5300 can be had for £600 from another online retailer.

Well the 5900 is the better one of the two, not sure if you will get another LED for the prices your looking for but have a look round see if there is anything you like.

That rainforrest related website does indeed have some strange pricing on their tvs. I got mine from there, an LG 42LD690, and they had some inferior models, and some old ones (no-longer on LG's website) priced higher than the one I chose.

I guess it's just down to stock levels or something. Nothing dodgy about it though..... just order the cheaper better one.

Im going to buy the 42LE5300 for £599 on Monday. I've seen it in various stores and it looks brilliant.

Picked one up for £548 as it was a display model. Seems to be missing the component adaptor though, as it was the display model they said they had thrown the box away so it might of gone with it. :(
