Well you can't judge other people by their reactions so you're losing a big part of the "skill", but no play with a reputable place and it will be legit, they aren't going to risk prison time for a little extra money

Lol arent you just 'technically' playing against a computer? I thought all online gambling games are rigged. That is why hardly anyone wins big amounts of money

No, you play against other people.

The thing with playing online is people are more likely to chase things and given to play over 50 hands an hour it makes it seem like stupid things happen all the time.

Probably just you. I say probably as there are obviously dodgy sites out there - the main ones are OK and generally registered in a UK dependent territory - the Isle or Man etc... with gaming commissions that are as legit as you'll get.

Without naming names its prob best to avoid the one that is registered in some north American Indian reservation/country/territory etc.. surprisingly enough they appear to be dodgy....

The pace of the game is fast so you'll see many more hands online within any given time frame than you would live therefore therefore notable hands will occur more frequently. This might lead to the perception that something fishy is going on - chances are, on a legitimate site, there isn't much fishy going on.

Some of it is.

What is to stop you and a few mates joining a table whilst all chatting in Vent / Skype or something. Would certainly help avoid losses.

Poker (whether online or in a casino) as opposed to video poker involves playing against others. The house doesn't care if you win or lose (they simply take a portion 'rake') out of the pot. So it is entirely possible for someone of a high skill level to win and indeed to continue winning over time (albeit with some natural variance involved).

are you playing for real money because if you are not people will just go all in coz they dont care if they loose as they have not paid anything and if you are playing for real money then some people still do stupid thing as they are slightly detached from reality when on a computer. they make choices that they wouldnt in real life.

The only difference between real life poker and online poker is a virtual deck, and the inability to see your opponents. The virtual deck isnt fixed in anyway either, it's balanced.

That is if you're on a reputable site.

Not necessarily - people who do that are likely too stupid to actually profit from collusion - its very very obvious and would likely get you banned fairly quickly.

It's called variance. If you're making optimal plays then don't take the bad beats so badly; you know that in the long run you will come out ahead of these players. If they are consistantly playing poorly they should be losing more money than they win. Nothing's stopping you from taking down their handles and playing them again at a later date.

You could also take a break for a while to stop yourself tilting.

That's a pretty big assumption. Sites are aware of this practise but I don't think they'll ever be able to get rid of it entirely.

The trouble with online play is there are too many chancers. It's a different style of game to live play. In my experience you need a lot more patience when playing online.

Maybe you're not as good as you previously thought?

mabye mabye not but i normaly always a head when i start putting the money in

isnt rigging online gambling games illegal in its own right??

Not if you're called Russ Hamilton..

I started playing at Real Deal Poker - uses real cards shuffled by a machine and you choose where it's cut. Runs at the same speed as an RNG poker game, it's brilliant. Down for maintenance and upgrades at the minute though, but definately worth a spin.

sounds good i normly play on betfair poker and 888poker

That place is appalling from what I've heard. Constant chip dumping, collusion in cash games and multiple accounts from one IP and they don't give a toss. Wouldn't play there myself.

its not as bad as some iv played on but yeah it has done me over a few times
