Dear All,

My graphics card just died. I am in search of an upgrade replacement. Which I will be running on my current rig specification below;

Coolmaster RC1000 case
Gigabyte EX58-UD5
i7 D0 (I will be overclocking it too 4GHz)
6GB Patriot Viper Ram
24" iyama prolite monitor
OCZ Vertex 60gb sdd hard drive
Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI PSU
Corsair H50-1 cooler

Any advise I would be greatful.

A 460 768/1gb? or if you wanted a little bit more go for a 470, all greats cards and all had prices cuts recently.

Basically:

6870 has marginally better performance out the box - although aside from a few games with big jumps - overall its only about 3-4% faster. Expect to see approx 15% gains with newer drivers over the next 6 months from AMD but bare in mind that nVidia quite consistantly introduce performance updates too so the story will probably be similiar down the line.

All current indications show that the GTX470 with an overclock is head and shoulders above the 6870.

The 6870 is substantially cooler running and lower in power useage, also generally quieter but depends on the exact cooling on each card - some makes are better for this than others.

Which manufacturer would be the best one to go with on 6870 ??
