E36 328 - Tell me

It's not really going to be noticeable day to day though is it, unless you live your life 1/4 mile at a time that is :p

O U C H! Sorry fella but extremely rarely will I EVER offer my opinion whilst intoxicated.

But my iPhone is in 11% and I think you paid a small / massive for some fortune for your 6 pot.

When you next wanna spank that kinda on a 90's automobile CALL ME!

I LOVE THE PROFIT X

Wow, with my fat thumbs and plenty of beers, I can type posts like normal on my iPhone.....

You must be wasted as your post makes no sense...

Hows your head? ;)

I haven't bought it, re-read :p

"those 18 inch wheels that are very popular" - so it's an e36 with MV2 replicas then. :)

I have an image of it, but as far as an image to represent a car goes, its terrible...as its in the background of the photo. I'll see if I can get some photos sent over.

Same.

If you really enjoy driving, I really don't think you'll really enjoy an old automatic convertible 3 series TBH.

I do enjoy driving, but honestly I've calmed down lots. My license depends on it :(

These?

Problem is that 99.9% of the time on an e36 they will be non-staggered replicas. They look wrong as reps and they look even more wrong on the angular e36.

As it happens they are the only BMW alloys I like!

They are the only wheels anyone buy a cheap E36 likes, which is why they are now the only wheel ever fitted to any E36, ever :p

Because matching the style of the wheel to the style of the car is a process lost on most of them.

No, not because of cheapness. They really are the only bmw alloy style I've liked. I think those MV2's on a facelift Z4 in the le-mans blue is hhhnnnnngggg

I don't mind the alloys on Tom's E46. But apart from that I generally don't like BMW alloy styling.

Yep. That's the ones. I'll ask if they are replicas or real ones...

So back to the OP guys, what questions should I be asking? is the asking price too much etc?

Cheers :)

How can you say that when there is such a range of completely different wheels that are available? I'd understand that if generally speaking they all followed the same theme but they... don't?

You liked the wheels on your MG, there are several styles similar to that for example

Can we stop being so hung up on whether or not I like 4 round bits of alloy and focus on what I've asked originally? :) :p

Ok. It's a stupid purchase for a considerable amount of money. The M52 isn't the most reliable of engines, and the associated problems of the cooling system being made of Swiss cheese, and the nikasil issues and you've essentially got a ticking time-bomb with multiple fuses ready to ignite. Certainly not a car to be mechanically lax with on a shoestring budget.

Rear subframes can tear out (although admittedly less so on later cars), you'll most likely have to replace the rear trailing arm bushes during ownership. Handbrakes suck more than most brands of vacuum cleaner. Points to check are all rear end bushes (subframe, diff, rear arms, suspension), rear top-mounts, and for rust around the base of the doors and the sills.

An e36 convertible is a car for the enthusiast. It won't be a simple and cheap ownership experience, it will most likely need constant minor fettling as well as the potential to throw up large bills. As an every day car for a non BMW enthusiast, it makes little to zero sense as a purchase, even less so if you don't want/need a cab.

Cheers for the post :)

I honestly don't know what I want really, I just remembered this was for sale before and I'd rather buy a car from someone I know has looked after it and quite like the idea of owning a convertible (yes the weathers gone this year but theres always next).

I'll have a think, ask what shes replaced/fixed in her time of ownership and update this thread :)

Thanks again!
