Got my test @ 10:24 friday.

looking for a few tips as I'd rather not endure winter on a moped.

other than the usual, make mirror checks obvious and relax, any other tips?

Eat a good breakfast, and take a banana with you if you're having a pre-test lesson (which I recommend). It'll keep your concentration up (or at least your blood sugar while you're nervous).

Don't just mentally collapse and 'give up' if (when?) you think you've failed. You'd be surprised what you can 'get away with' on test if you're otherwise a good driver. Don't just give up after a mistake and spend the rest of the test thinking 'I've failed' as that could lead to a mistake that DOES fail you. You'd be surprised how common that is.

Don't take the examiner personally. Some are really friendly, put you at ease, and chat away. Others barely talk or acknowledge you. That's a personality thing, not a "s/he's going to fail me" thing. Just drive as well as you can and relax.

Drive SLOW on manoeuvres. Don't rush them. Think twice, turn once. :p

Enjoy and good luck. :)

Did my test in May, and I know it's cliché, but as you say, relax. Take your time, you want to give your examiner the smoothest ride of their life, and if you are rushing and panicking you'll miss things.

All they want to see from you is that you are in control, and are following the steps (mirror-signal-manoeuvre etc.).

If you remain calm and take your time you'll find you'll drive smoother and it gives you time to do what you are meant to.

Just don't be too lethargic or you'll get marked down for 'hesitation', but as long as you take opportunities when they come, and follow the basics, you'll do fine. :)

Good Luck!

PS - I highly recommend you take a lesson before your Test, just to get warmed up and do some last minute practice on anything you may be worrying about to put your mind at ease.

The best thing I ever had was thinking my test was cancelled (snow). I was still expecting the test to be cancelled when the testers all came out, I had the first test of the week. Passed first time. I also got to know the examiner while we were there.

Good luck! I need to read up about the new test, don't really know what's changed.

Best tip: Get talking to the examiner. I was chatting to my examiner the whole way through about anything and everything (politics, economics, football etc :p) really helped calm my nerves.

Ive got a pre test lesson booked early. The banana sounds like a good idea. Theyve removed a maneouver and added a 10 minute idependant driving for the new test. Thankfully I have 9 months of proper road experience behind me on a bike. I just need to remeber I have an iterior mirror :p

On my test me and the examiner were exchanging swine flu jokes (it was around that time) :P

Just relax and act like its another lesson. Dont get distracted by him scribbling or writing on his sheet. So long as you dont do something down right dumb you should be able to fly it :)

One for steering control, 1 for safety and 1 for control moving off, 2 change direction mirrors, 2 turning right and one for traffic lights. The traffic light one was stupid, couldnt see the lights cus the sun visor was down.

I was going to post Good Luck but now I'll post Good Effort.

Have you got a motor sorted yet ?
