First 6870 Review is Up...

There's no comparison to a 5970, I am disappoint. Of course I'm kidding on the disappoint lol.
Vortex's review has much more comparative figures imo.

In 3D Mark Vantage it leaves all of the single cards of the last generation for dead, including the HD5970. In many tests it is up there with a HD5870 Crossfire setup, such has been the improvement in the quality of Crossfire scaling.

blimmy - Nvidia must be sinking in the chairs

Didn't 5850 Crossfire already beat any single card available? to state that 6870 Crossfire leaves every other single card for dead is kinda pointing out the obvious. :p

According to benchmarks on ***** (EDIT: really? a review site a competitor??) Nvidia GTX 470 is better than 6870 for the same price... - we're talking a few FPS but still...

Im quite impressed tbh. I was going to skip the 6xxx series but two of these 6870s would make a mega upgrade from my 4870s crossfired. These have 3D gaming on them aswell :D.

Lets wait and see what the 69xx cards can do :D

Not very impressive seeing that the 5870 gets better performance although give it a couple of months and a decent set of drivers will get released. Although looking at the price of a 6870 might as well check out the 6970's probably be a steal. =]

One more thing, What happend to 28nm?

Vortez :p. I have some benchmarks comparing 6870+6850 with 5870+5850 which I shall publish later on. To quickly sum it up, the 5 series performed better in most tests.

It might not be impressive if you just look at performance, but you have to consider the cost too. The 6870 can be had for under £200 (£176 if you look around), the 5870 is around £300 and there's not that much in it between their performance, certainly not £100 worth.

Definitely that's why the 6970 may be VERY impressive. It might be close to 5870's in Xfire but for half the price.

I'm just wondering what the point of this card is when my 1GIG 5850 will play everything on maximum settings in glorious HD.

Maybe it's just aimed for the 'jump on the bandwagon for the latest product' people .....

Its cheaper for AMD to make thus they make more money & we all know they can do with making as much as they can & without ripping us off.
Its more for the peopled who do not already own 5850 & 5870.
