Still in need a beginners guide to zerg :p. Actually sod it. If it takes me 10 losses to get the hang of it I just need to dive in don't I. Go with a basic build order and hope it works!

Day[9] did a daily on drone timing aimed at beginners which you may find useful. I've not watched it myself as I don't play Zerg (not yet anyways! :D), but I'm sure it's good stuff as always and will help you out if you haven't seen it yet. :)

I was thinking of paying to watch the SC2 tournament and getting all the WoW and D3 stuff as extras, but if the tournament is free i think i'll hold out. :)

Hmm, some advice from the resident Protoss/Zerg masters would be much appreciated :(

Have been doing well in PvT, alright in PvP (i haz moar colossi!), but PvZ has been going terrible as of late.

Early pressure into expand from a zerg usually lets me win with 3 gate robo, but 100% macro has been giving me terrible headaches. The build goes something along the lines of gas/pool/expand in some order. But now there's a roach warren in there. My gateway units feel basically useless now vs Spine Crawlers (never realised how much damage they actually do!) and Roaches.

I dont feel like I can just expand myself however, as a 100% droning zerg will totally outproduce protoss in the worker count.

The solution that springs to mind is Immortals, with zealots and sentries. Immortals put the smackdown on roaches and spine crawlers, zealots counter any impromptu ling production and sentries do the ramp forcefield business.
Not sure I can get an effective force out in time to really do enough damage before economy kicks in and i start falling way behind though :(

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated :)

In my opinion, 3 gate robo with immortal would be the way forward... throw a few Sentry in there for Guardian Shield and it makes roaches/spines pretty useless unless their backed up by a hell of a lot of Zerglings.

either way, you should be able to hold the roach push with the build and get your expo up fairly safely.

Rob/Kar/Scott may be able to shed some light on it from a Protoss side though. But thats what tends to beat any roach push that i do.

Cheers, that makes sense. Seems that a fast robo bay is quickly becoming standard :p.

Will iron out the ordering and see what i can make happen against these macro zergs :D.

Might even be worth trying a phoenix opener, with mainless Zergs just going for Roaches from the off, you may find yourself better off with this kind of harassment. Expo and then slowly get access to Zealot legs to rip appart the hdyras that they counter with.

Well I can beat a hard AI as Zerg now, but I just still can't seem to "get" it.

I started to learn zerg earlier this week. I basically got a basic build order and some hot keys down in a custom game. Then just laddered. I dropped from diamond to plat.

Now as im in plat im not to bothered about ranking im just playing as random. Know how to play the other 2 races, just need to get basics etc.. down with protoss now. :D

I think the free viewing isn't live and so it's delayed - at least that's what I think is happening as SC2 was supposed to kick off at 1.30pm PT, and it's now 2.30 and screen still shows nothing.

Edit: It may be live, not sure if there is something holding up the SC2 games.

Technically difficulties apparently according to tasteless, should get under way in a moment.

I've just completely changed my style in PvZ after watching SangHo in yesterdays GSL.

15 Nexus into dual stargate phoenix into 6 gate dual robo immortal stalker.

From today's blizzcon panel:

- MMR is not wiped when the season resets the ladders.
- different league ratings don't affect each other except during placement matches.

UPDATE:

- League icons will denote how high you are. High diamond gets fancier icon than low diamond.
- Season 2 date not announced yet, ladder will be wiped, but can see history.
- One placement match only
- Master League (top 1-2% of region goes in it)
- Top 200 players go in Grand Master League. (crowd cheering)
- Featured replays (jan/feb timeframe), new tab that can show replays from tournaments like GSL

UPDATE 2: Balance team coming out

- Dustin Browder talking about pro players being crazy good and dedicated. Not sure where this is going.
- Giving quotes from pro players, now pimping Day9 Daily

UPDATE 3: David Kim is teaching nubs how to cannon rush. Enjoy your ladder games, gentlemen.

UPDATE 4: Q&A

Question: Will we ever see MMR?
Answer: Blah blah no.
Followup: Is it per race?
Answer: No, but we've heard feedback, we want to fix this in the future but nothing solid.

Question: Are there gonna be chat channels?
Answer: Chat channels nov/dec, public and private channels. The coding is done, now being tested internally.

Question: Idiotic question about some random bug.
Answer: Politely referring idiot to the service forum.

Question: Will reapers be made to not suck and be viable in mid-game armies?
Answer: We're balancing for top players, Terran was OP early game, we had to nerf. Reapers being looked at but we're watching and waiting.

Question: Are we gonna get more stats (WC3 stats) on the Bnet web profile?
Answer: Yes, we're working on it, nothing specific. Have huge plans for web integration.

Skipped random "how do I play" question
Skipped another one of those.

Question: How do I tank drop better?
Answer: David Kim: Drop tanks at the natural in LT!
All Zerg players: FFFFUUUUUUUUUU

UPDATE 5: It's over.

UPDATE 6: Missed one question:

Question: Will you be able to watch replays with friends on B.net
Answer: Yes, next year.
