James Caan from dragons den, he's IN

meh, the guy got caught up in the moment. He's doing good work out there, pity that the media are concentrating on this and not what he's actually doing.

What's the difference between him doing that and Madonna? I mean in terms of the result if that makes any sense.

Well, I can't comment for Madonna, but he clearly didn't think it through and was trying to achieve a very significant decision completely ad hoc.

I don't think many are completely uncritical of Madonna.

as he stated, he got caught up in the moment. imo he's a genuine nice bloke and i can see why he wanted to do this, shame it's going to come across like it will now

Agree.

People don't get crabby with Madonna or A. Jolie for this...

Bad taste but understandable given the emotion. He's a good man, hence why he is out there.

I can see where he is coming from, throwing a one off gift to the family won't do nothing when you see hundreds of them, but taking one away from poverty means 1 less suffering. logical thinking but not how people see it.

must have been hard for him seeing all that, it's not mad to want to help someone have a better life. and his way would have given the child a richer life - but without it's family it doesn't mean much.

Surely it would have a family, just not its biological one. I can see where he is coming from, if the mother of the child cared she would she that he is only trying to do good for the baby.

But, I'm offering £1100!

Its not his offer to give the child a better life that bothered me, I found that quite noble. What bothered me was the fact he deemed it appropriate to offer money for a human being :(.

Oh I agree, the amount is irrelevant. Unfortunately that is adoption from places like this though, based on money :(

is it not appropriate for a place like that though?

if he thought he'd get the child for free i'm sure he would have asked for that, however he's a smart man and he knew that they'd want cash. not his choice but the family's if they accepted.

tiny price tag though his clothes probably cost more than he was going to pay for a baby :S

he seemed to think he deserved it because he could give the baby more money aswell...
