Does Palit 460 1GB come with new BIOS?

Hi,

Ordered a Palit GTX 460 1GB card on Thursday, but after reading some more reviews have become aware of all manner of issues with noise and cooling. I also noticed there is a separate 'platinum' version, which is not this one (stupid me I know).

Some sites say that an early batch of the cards had a poor BIOS, and that it can be updated to alleviate some problems with the cooling.

However, the 'reviews' tab on the OC site seem to indicate the fan is pretty quiet on idle.

Has anyone recently bought this card? Does it have the updated BIOS, and what's the noise like on this?

Personally I never base buying decisions on those reviews.

My 768mb cards are fine noise wise and I bought em a couple of weeks after release, so you should be fine

apparently the fans "whine" and it is rather annoying, at over 60% fan speed.
bios change won't fix crappy mechanics
(it just lowers the average fan speed in standard fan profile)

I have 1 and its gr8 800/1600/4000 updated bios use afterburner

I sent mine back and got a Gigabyte GTX 460 instead. The difference was like night and day.

The Palit's fan whined constantly, and ran pretty hot. The Gigabyte is effectively silent and runs cool. The thing I will say about the Palit is that it overclocked very well and was completely stable.
