Drivers who don't dim sat-nav at night

Yep, I find it distracting.

Also bothers me how some people position theirs - you see some placed slap bang in the middle of the windscreen!

I've noticed it a lot tbh, never bothered me though. What does bother me is when said bright sat nav seems to be right in the field of view.

eg just under and right a bit from the rear view mirror, that must be so off putting.

** above posted at the same time, glad its not just me!!! **

Doesn't bother me in the slightest either, mine stays on day mode and I shove it in the corner of the screen out of the way. It simply isn't an issue :p

Again, something that just doesn't bother me that much.

I agree, I don't get the big deal, when I'm sitting in the car at night with a couple of mates and they turn on all the interior lights, it doesn't bother me in the slightest and when I only by the time I get to my destination I notice they're still forced on...

For that space ship HUD look you mean.

Cant say it bothers me to be honest, they should get 2 so the passenger has one as well ;)

Err if you turn the interior lights on in the car most of your side windows then contain a reflection of the interior of the car and NOT a clear view of the outside world.

Thats the point, like. The bright Satnav screen has a similar effect.

It's worse than you suspect. They probably also don't realise there's a selection of voices they can pick from. Perhaps they don't even have the volume set at the optimal level!

Neither of those have the effect of projecting a clear copy of your satnav screen onto windows which should be used for looking for hazards :p

Maybe you should change car if the light is reflecting off your cheap interior plastics. You don't get that issue with quality interiors :p

Don't stick dual DVD screens on the back of your headrests at any time, the light will be like the ship landing in close encounters ;)

I never have an issue with reflecting no matter what mode a sat nav is set to. I didn't find others distracting either. Perhaps you shouldn't be driving if you find things like that distracting.

ditto, but mines an old tom tom one so maybe its not as bright as some of the newer models?

What's wrong with that??
Does it not reduce your field of view as it were? Perhaps it doesn't in which case fair enough, but personally I can't see how it wouldn't?

The few times we use ours, I try to mount it literally as low as possible, so its pretty much resting on the dash and therefore changing the view as least as possible.

Can't say I've noticed it and I have a lot of interior lights in the Volvo.

I've only ever driven with the interior light on once by mistake, in America about 6 years ago. I almost pulled out in front of car I couldnt see because all I could see out of my side window was a reflection of the interior caused by the interior lights.

Pretty sure the highway code warns against driving with the interior light on for the same reason, though I've not checked.
