Scariest movie you've seen?

If you have good speakers/headphones and are in a dim room then Paranormal Activity certainly isvery jumpy as is REC for awesomeness.

I find horror films like these to be most enjoyable when they have an excellent audio track.

I watched paranormal 3 times without moving a inch. Watching REC tonight if all goes to plan :)

Couldn't sit around with headphones on -- not got any suitable anyway. So my logitech z4's will have to do.

Woman In Black

I watched it in the early 90s and it frightened the life out of me  Also recommend the stage version at London's Fortune Theatre, went back in March and it's VERY well done

YES!
I remember this was on C4 on Xmas Eve in the late 80s/Early 90s. So, SO scary at the time. Have been to see the live show twice and still love it.
I've looked it up on youtube to post a clip but really you need to watch the whole thing to do it any justice. Such a good English ghost story.

I always watch films with my headphones on, its amazing all the little details you can miss when just watching on low volume through cheap speakers or even worse the TVs speakers .

I actually thought Paranormal Activity was awesome, best horror I've seen for a while.

Another good horror I watched recently was 'Martyrs', its a french film so only watch if you don't mind subs.

Just watched REC. One 'eye wide opener' moment , within the last 10 minutes

Overall was rather weird, not that great imo.

I've seen Blair Witch, Excorcist and many others - I just laugh during the film.

I remember seeing Ghostbusters 2 in the cinema when I was a kid and was terrified. Some parts of it still scare me till today and I am 26 :D The painting, the thing in the old underground rail/subway system and just the general creapyness of that art guy.

Event Horizon I found to be scary in some parts too.

Because the Exorcist is jokes :p The girl flying up on down on the bed and what she says :p

what made the blair witch scary for me when i first saw it, was the fact it was believable. the camera work etc made it seem pretty real. also, my parents were away on holiday, so it was just me and my brother. i was watching it alone at home in the dark at like, 1 in the morning :s very creepy.

I'm a complete whimp when it comes to scary things, so here are mine.

The Grudge - saw at the cinema, had to look at the floor for 80% of the film, even then the audio still scared the crap out of me.
Event Horizon - can't remember much of this, again I was probably looking away for most of it.
Saw/2/3 - haven't seen any of the others, don't plan to.

again, just a personal thing but i remember Shutter (original version) scaring the bejesus out of me... not sure if it was the film or if i was just especially nervy that night.

But all said, and possibly to my shame, i grew up never wanting to see the Omen films again...

When I was younger, IT was the one that got me. Terrified of clowns for years.

Nowadays it's really hard to properly scare me but some films can make you jump almost naturally. A loud noise, a sudden camera turn etc, it's not real frightening stuff, you leave it in the cinema don't you?

The Shining is one of my favourite horror films of all time, purely because it works on me, freaking me out and yet making me want to watch it over and over again.

The Exorcist didn't scare me necessarily but the face of the devil that randomly pops up from time to time did make my heart skip a beat, hah. Felt like such a wimp when I found out it was a woman.

The torture porn stuff doesn't count as horror in my book but that's up for debate I guess. The likes of The Human Centipede, A Serbian Film etc...they just make me angry and want to track down these morons who thought it was a good idea to put it on film.

Paranormal Activity...don't get it. Never have and never will. Maybe the hype ruined it for me. I was told not just by the media but by people I know that it was scary as hell and they had literally left the cinema near shaking. So me and my other half go to see it - and we literally sit there with confused faces (in disappointment) for the majority of the movie, until the end, which is ruined anyway by the stupid face pulled to close the movie.

Fair enough it was bit jumpy I guess but only because nearly the wholer thing is in silence! :D

The last film that I thought was jumpy/scary enough to be worth mentioning was The Last Exorcism which I thought worked far more effectively than Paranormal Activity I must say.

The only films which freak me out are the fast paced zombie films like REC 1 and 2 (the spanish version) and 28 days/weeks later.

Also dead set (technically not a film :p) was pretty damn good, I would actually say that it would be up there with the top zombie films tbh, quite a few jumpy bits.

Yep. I hate them too. I am desperate to watch Dawn of the Dead remake. I have it on Jap DVD (In DTS) and can watch it when ever I want but I want to watch it with my missus and she doesnt want too...
Might give it a go in a bit actually.
