Was going down the A5 and noticed my temperature gauge was at boiling point :o I started to slow down and park up on the side of the road. At this point there was a little smoke but not much. I had a look and noticed that the pipe that goes into the HCV had snapped, empting all the coolant out the entire car

I went and bought a ford fiesta HCV as im led to believe the puma / ka and fiesta share a lot of the same bits. I fitted the HCV on road side and filled it up with water, all was fine. Drove it home and temp stayed down.

The issue i now have is the heaters are stuck on hot, and the air con wont come on.

Now is this down to an incorrect HCV, as my google skills tell me i have the right part. Or could this be due to something more?

Thanks for any advice!

Common part so will be right one, changed mine as a precaution.

If its stuck on hot its either not working or got an airlock - are you 100% its plumbed up correctly and electrical connector on ?

Fitted one before on a fiesta and all worked fine.

I'll refit it tomorrow just to make sure its all connected fully.

How do i get rid of air lock?

I think you just run the engine for a while with the coolant bottle lid off - certainly recall doing this when i did mine.

Running hot all the time sounds like its in bypass mode hence wondering if its plumbed in properly and/or the electrical connector isnt on forcing it into the open mode.

To be fair if it was an air lock heaters would not be stuck on hot but the other way round.
Heaters stuck on hot are normally how you find out these have broke.
