G-Star / Hollister / Superdry

What do you class as cheap? Carbrini/Mckenzie are big chav brands and they are defiantly not cheap, not by my standards anyway.

One word: Burberry.

A premium brand that can filter down to a high street chav.

As you say, Mckenzie/Cabrini aren't cheap but sometimes they can. Just walk into any JD Sports (Again, i point out i am massively stereotyping!) and see what sort of things they are selling. It is quite easy to get 'budget' clothing from expensive brands. I could happily buy a £10 FCUK t-shirt and it would look like a £10 t-shirt - the style, the fit and how 'aged' it looks.

So to answer your question, 'bargain basement' versions of sports brands or certain styles of high street brands, in my opinion. :p

Wear whatever you want. Just because chavs wear something, that doesnt make you a chav. I have some awesome Gstar Jeans and I'm far from a chav.

I couldnt care less if others deem them chavy, I hang out with a rock crowd and its never come up.

Jeans are different as the only logo are that little label normally.i think some T-shirts are more chavvy than others, regardless of brand. They are normally the one where the design is basically the name.

DIESEL
G-STAR
CK JEANS
SUPERDRY
BENCH
DKNY JEANS

Etc...

If the logo is bigger than a £5 note, there is no way i am wearing that.

I don't mind small logos, hence I like my superdry jackets as the logos are discrete and not part of the design. I prefer the thoughts behind the clothes is not about where to stick the name on but use their thoughts to design something that looks good in the first place.

To add to the McKenzie/Cabrini Chav or not question

JD sports own both of the above brands, after working there and seeing the scum come in and out, I'll never wear any !

Didn't you buy ridiculously expensive swimming shorts/shirt/t shirt/or something?

I bought swimming shorts 4-5 years ago - Quicksilver - for £45.

There are others on this forum who spend £100 on a shirt but i personally can't afford that...not even sure i'd want to. :p

That's cheap, my prada sunnies cost more than that!

Anyway, price means nothing. Plenty of chavs have disposable income or access to credit.

In answer to the OP, Animal is another of those brands.

I was dragged around Cabot Circus by my missus and daughter (12) today looking for a Superdry jacket, we eventually found one in a shop called Cult, a very stylish place which seemed to be frequented by middle class 20 somethings, not a chav in sight !!
The jacket was £65 !!! (Good job i made her sell all her DS and PSP games in Cex to pay for it :D )

Does anyone know where Hollister get they're clothes, or are they manufactured for them.
I would like something similar as they fit my frame, but I would rather not have to wear there horrible logo all over my t-shirt/polo's.
Alternatively can anyone recommend something discreet and similar.

I like the superdry stuff, but absolutely refuse to pay those absurd prices. Anyone know somewhere I can get it cheaper?

The second post in this thread links to the Superdry Ebay Store which seems to be cheaper than usual prices.

Really? I like some of their stuff but never bought it because I don't want to be labeled a chav.

My advice would be simply to wear it if you like it and stuff what other people think but then I can't recall ever being accused of being fashionable so whether you'd want to take my advice on such matters is debatable.

... it has made me realise that paying slightly more for clothes is worth it. :p
I'm guessing this is the opposite of Buyer's Remorse at work, because it almost never is. There are exceptions, of course, but generally speaking designer stuff isn't made to any more exacting standards than high street stuff.

To me it's worth it because less people have it and I'm a div :p but I don't notice any increase in quality. Perceived quality, sure.

Also g-star is pretty damned chav, just look at the gangster machinations of the name, it's unavoidably so.

Is it actually acceptable to wear Superdry?
Everybody wears superdry, they are hugely high street, hugely mainstream, and don't really have any image as such. I wouldn't label them chav at all, just common.

With help from the bf.. Firetrap, Gio Goi, Fred Perry, Diesel, FCUK, Henleys
Firetrap is very mainstream, Gio Goi has been around a while now and is chavish, fred perry is as chavish as they come, diesel and fcuk are mainstream, henleys is high on the chav quotient too.

Superdry isn't cheap
All of the brands so far mentioned in this thread are high street and therefore cheap?! J'confuse.

Ask yourself....

Exactly how "cool" is a brand that EVERYONE and his dog are wearing?

Baa Baaa

Be a leader of fashion, not a follower of fashion
This, basically. Looking forward to being called out for what I choose to wear and having the same thrown back at me ;)

Depends what you define as cheap. But for clothes these brands are cheap compared to things like ralph lauren for example!
Like my superdry bag was £50, while im currently using a Camel Active wallet worth like £60 lol

bank clothing is right up your street also, have a look at foot asylum, they sell all these kind of brands, i'm particularly fond of Police jeans atm, not the ones with massive logos though.
