Hey there, I'm looking to upgrade my 2-3 year old rig which is starting to show its age (8800GT, C2D E6750)

I'll be keeping my case which is a antec sonata III with the inbuilt 500w psu and my disk drive. I also dont need an OS and I'll be doing a bit of overclocking.

I was planning to buy another 6850 later on and run them in crossfire but there's so much choice atm so I dunno. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I've been looking at something like this:

I would go for that but cant say much more since you want to keep your 550w psu a 470 might not be ideal so could drop it for a 1gb 460.

for gaming Id look at the quad core 955 and the 6870, better gfx which will help and the cpu will make no difference to gaming, go that route
Also change RAM to the below, and get better cooler (again as below)

no keep the samsung f3 as the read/write speeds of that ssd is really slow..dont drop it just for the sake of having a really slow SSD in your rig

That is the problem. I can't think of anybody that I know that is still using hard drives for the System and Boot. I have been using SSD's for 2 years and been happy so far.

Sure SSD's are fine for OS/few games if it's in budget, but he would still need a hdd for extra storage and all his data. Hence why we said what we did when you told him to drop the F3 1TB for a Slow SSD
