Will the card below fit into an SG01and or the SG05?
Asus ATI Radeon HD 6870 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Also anywhere I can look to see sizes of graphics cards in general?

SG01 = Piece of cake. Though my case did seem rather more spacious with a wee 5770 installed. :D

Temps are much better though, noise, maybe not so much.

My Sapphire is a smidge under 25cm long and right angled sata connectors will be needed if you've got a lot of drives. Biggest card I've used.

hmm Lunatic Dreyfus, isn't that a sgo01-f?

its been changed to allow for longer gfx cards

but it might fit in an older sgo01?
dont for get it also depends on where the gfx slot is on the mobo.

Correct, mine is a Sugo SG01-F and for reference I'm using this mobo http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-403-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1782. On this board I have plenty of clearance back to the drive bays. The sata connectors were obscured, but right angled connectors sorted that.

My Sapphire 6870 was a smidge under 25cm from the blanking plate to the back end.

I had a look through Google and saw some of the older versions, and it does look rather more cramped at that end of the case. If there are drive bays sticking out, then looking at the interior of my case for comparison, then I'd be concerned. The card could be just a millimetre or two too long, but that would be enough. :(

lunatic

how quiet/noisy is the 6870 card in the sgo01?

On idle it's bearable and quite easy to blank out after a while, but of course you mileage may vary on that. ;) I always have a fan on in my room, so I never notice it. However, it's certainly louder than my 5770 Vapor-X, and that's all I can compare it too. Rev the thing up to 100% though, and that's another matter. It's ridiculously loud. :D

A bit vague. Sorry. :(

no that great info thanks, I want it as quiet as possible really

btw how loud does the 5770 Vapor-X and do you notice a big improvement with the 6870

Hmm maybe I should get the 6850

The 5770 Vapor-X is utterly silent, even when heavy gaming. I've yet to find a card that's as silent - I really miss it in terms of noise compared to my stock cooled HD5850.

If you want silence and decent gaming punch, it really is the perfect card for the SG05/06.

Are you gaming at 1920x1080 and over?
Do you want all the eye candy on while playing games?
Do you play games a lot?

If the answer to those is mostly yes,you should go with the best card you can afford.
You wont go wrong with either a 6850,a 6870 or even 460gtx with a non reference cooler such as the MSI or Gigabyte.
If you game at the above resolution and over "don't" buy the 5770,it's an entry level gaming card and not suited to playing at those resolutions with the eye candy turned up.
