Can I Use MacBook Pro OS X Disc For Older MacBook?

I am trying to format my old MacBook so I can sell it. I have a copy of Snow Leopard but can't find it. Does anyone know if I would be able to use my MacBook Pro discs on my old MacBook or will this create problems?

Any other ideas? (apart from find the Snow Leopard disc )

No, the install DVD that's supplied with a Mac checks the model of the computer it's installing on and if it's not correct then the install will abort.
