Is this worth doing ? How much can i overclock it with stock cooling ? i dont want to push it right to the limit. I have 2 in sli with a haf x so good case cooling.

Remember that in SLI your clocks will probably be a bit lower, due to the top card getting hotter thanks to less air supply. It's a downside to SLI and Crossfire.

The HAF-X has an internal fan for VGA cooling, I believe? This should help a fair bit over a regular case. Either way, you're still gonna have some impressive performance!

I cant attach the VGA fan as the one of the cards has to be in the bottom slot, which blocks off connections to the front panel, both cards have a slot between then.

Huh? What has the heat of the cards got to do with their clock speed?

To the op, do you really need to overclock your 480's? Surely fast enough?

Yea ive got it, will just increase voltage full and shift the clock up to 825mhz and see how it goes with the stress test.

just done 861 on stock cooler with no volt modding

no artifacts on furmark.

not sure I want to push it any further, Don't have massive experience with overclocking GPUs and not sure what is safe and not :P
