World of Tanks Beta

going to bed, finishing day 2.5 in possession of a pzII, pzIII A, pz38(t) and a hetzer, not bad :p, just need to work my way to a StuGIII and panther and then i'll be happy :p

I think i'll probably look into a clan for this game as i'm thoroughly enjoying it but would be even better with some more teamwork.
 
Voice Comms really is a must for this game for teamwork. Even when with friends, typing is no good as usually whatever it is you are typing about is either already happening, happened or you're dead. :p

Scout + Arty teamwork would be amazing with voice. No more arty missing the scout doing a fine job. No more arty all firing at the same 10% enemy tank! :p

As a heavy tank player it would be nice to be able to yell "arrrgh it's an IS Fou---"[KABOOM] :D
 
Am i right in saying though you need at least one of you to have a premium account to be able to form a team?
 
To create a Platoon you need to have a Premium account, yes.

Since you get free gold every day in the BETA this isn't an issue. I assume Platoons will be somewhat obsolete if you are in a clan, once they are introduced in the full release of the game.
 
I cant seem to get the hang of the hetzer at all though just put a fair olg gun on it last night. Seems to not penertate as much as the others but has loads more damage if it does. Ive still to test it.

I love my PzII and PzIII. The PzIV is taking a bit more time to get used to, not quite comfortable with it yet.

I think the artillery i have is the wespe but i seem fairly useless with it, and when i do hit something it doesnt do much damage. Not sure if i'm doing something wrong or not. It felt like the tnak before this one i done much better with.
 
Think I've got as far as I can with the medium tanks and thanks to the cost of heavies it might take a while otherwise to try them out. Has anyone purchased the premium account yet or are they not selling it since it's the closed beta? Also, will they wipe our experience etc at release?

i think they will be wiping everything on release, premium atm is just saving the gold they give you every day and then buying the premium acc with it, on release gold will cost real money.

half way toward my StuG :D
 
I may have to buy a Hetzer again. I have decided not to buy a Tiger since I don't think I could afford to run two Tier 7 heavies, especially now I am saving up for a week's worth of Premium. I would save for a month's worth but I will likely be broke by then - and the game might not even be in BETA still! :eek:

At the moment I am loving my little A-20. When everything goes right I get some nice XP and credits. It's all over if someone gets a good shot in and busts your tracks! :(

The IS seems to be a lot more enjoyable too. My crew is almost 100% [without Commander bonus] and I have the Tank Gun Rammer and Gun Laying Drive. Much nicer to use now. Though, annoyingly, I do seem to miss often even at close range. Looking at it objectively, it could simply be that I missed quite often in my KV-3, but due to the really slow reload of the IS [and subsequently less shots made in a battle] it just feels like I am missing more often.

Hard to say. One thing I do really like doing is going gung-ho when I have an ally or two with me - I wizz up alongside or behind an enemy IS-4/7/Maus/Tiger/something big and just wallop it from behind :D Should be even better once I get the engine upgrade.
 
Ive got a 7 day premium, i was saving for a month but with the soft wipe coming fairly soon i figured what the hell. Though you cant pay for it with actual money yet, just the 150 gold/day they give you while the beta is active. You wont get it when the game is released.

Yes they will wipe at release and you'll also get a soft wipe for one of the upcoming patches i beleive.

You get a shiny new garage when you buy premium :)

If you want to try Heavy tanks, go up the Russian tree. It will take no time to get to the KV and not too long to get the KV-3. The KV can be an awesome tank if you play carefully. Well worth the slog for the KV-3! Such a good tank for its tier.

Due to being Tier 6 you will find you end up being the biggest boy on the team in many battles. Always a nice feeling knowing you can blow most of the enemy away in one shot! :D

Shiny new garage is nice! It should be emphasized that Premium accounts aren't really that important for the first 6 tiers. It is slower to gain XP, sure, but unless your tank is truly awful [I'm looking at you Hetzer and Pz IV] it isn't such a big deal. Besides, you should have a garage full of tanks to play with, so in the very least you will always have Credits and Free XP rolling in.

I spent probably 2 weeks worth of Gold on bloody money and transferring XP from my elite tanks. If I can manage two weeks playing without Premium, anyone can.

I would say it is important once you start running the IS or Tiger line of tanks. In fact, I would say ESPECIALLY the IS and Tiger I - they are not invincible but their running costs are a massive jump from the previous tier.

I can kill up to kv 3 easily in my vk3001P fully upgraded with some equipment.
 
What's your point? They're the same tier and the VK3001 is a great tank. I've been killed by a Pz IV while in my KV-3. I have also killed KV-3's in my Pz IV and VK3601. :)

Doesn't stop the KV-3 being a fantastic tank. I have killed Tigers, IS and even a KT once, one on one.

That's the great thing about this game - doesn't matter how big you are, if you make a mistake or the other guy gets lucky, you can go down easy to almost anyone. :D

I thought i read on their forums that there will be a wipe when we get the patch with the American Tanks though its possibly changed.
 
It takes me a while to kill a KV solo in my fully pimped out T44, that's if they don't hit me with the HE lolgun and i am forced to retreat. So they are tough.
Also they sometimes get banded into a low tier fight, and trust me, its crazy to watch Piii's and leopards etc as other top tiers trying to spank down a KV/KV3.

The only thing that makes the KV painful is its speed.
You need to keep the KV in cover from arty as they are prime targets once scouted.
