I am looking to buy a good quality headset for computer gaming, at around £30.
I have never bought any headsets before so I am unsure of what to look for.
Does anyone know which would be the best to get at this price?

Thanks!

Go for decent headphones and a clip in mic which you can cable tie to the headphone cable = better sound & a mic attached to the headphone = headset.

cheapers bet is Goldring DR50 & SPEEDLINK SL-8691-SBK Clip-On Microphone. Google for both, which can bother be had from a certain channel island online store. Headphones £20, Mic £6.99.

This, for the money. Nothing I've heard that's better in the price range if you can cope with not having a mic attached.

I found the search results =_=
What I meant was the results I found are all £30++, "Angel Rex" said in his post that they were £20... so if anyone knows where I can buy them for £20, please link me! :D

I found the search results =_=

Well you didn't because there's two links to places selling them for under £20 on the very first page, right at the top when you Google 'Goldring DR50'...

We can't link it, it's against the rules as they would be competitors.

Can't, against forum rules, due to the site being a competitor. Search for them on the site that shares it's name with a rain forest in South America.

Hmm, those Creative HS950, might be a good consideration. I do think a decent pair of headphones is always better, from a sound quality point of view, but without a sound card, one is only going to get stereo. Fine if that person only wants stereo. For someone looking for surround sound virtualisation, and a budget of £30, Good headphones and sound card is not possible. The HS950's might be a good choice.

Some motherboards do have Dolby Headphone though, which would factor in the decision as to what to get.

My mistake! I'm completely new to the forum and didn't know that linking is not permitted. Sorry about that!

Ok, I found it now. Problem was that I searched "DR 50" the first time instead of "DR50"... >.<
So... It's now the Creative Fatal1ty HS-950 vs. the Goldring DR50... I'm unsure of which to get. Is 3D Surround Sound worth the extra £15??

3D surround sound is something that a soundcard can do with any stereo headphones. A Xonar DG would be an excellent budget option and has Dolby Headphone which in combination with the DR50s would give fantastic results.

Is that Fatality headset a gimmick or is it good? Can't believe a "Pro Gamer" headset would be so cheap without a reason ...

"Pro Gamer" is not usually indicative of a quality product when it comes to audio...

I upgraded from the Fatal1ty's, they were not comfortable for extended gaming sessions.

SQ wise, I dont have a lot to compare with, but I thought they did a decent job in that area.

I guess I'll go with the DR50's then.
My current soundcard is the Supreme FX X-Fi. Is it good enough?

And thanks so much to everyone for all your advice! Saved me one real headache :P
