HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Just had a quick look on the Vodafone online upgrades section just to see what was on offer and have to say what a load of rubbish! The plan I'm currently on is 300mins/unlimited text + web for £25. If I want a similar deal but with 600mins (which I don't need) it would be £35 a month and they want £149 for the handset! Wow.

So, what have people upgrading been able to get? I'm a pretty good haggler so will most likely go down to one of their stores to see what I can get myself but it's always nice to see what success others have been getting :)

Also, I'm only looking at the upgrade part because keeping my number is very important and the signal out here in the sticks is best with Voda. Cheers folks.

I'm currently in talks with Vodafone trying to get my hands on one of these.
They finally conceded to me in the whole FUP debacle and so I've had my contract terminated a year early and we're trying to come to an agreement on a new deal that'll keep me with VF. They're not trying very hard though!

Best they are offering on an 18mnth contract is £35pm with 600mins, unlimited texts and 1GB web, the phone is free though.

Not exactly world beating.

Looks like MPD are delaying again until the first week in November, email below from them this morning -

---------------------------------------
Dear Customer

Thank you for your order of the stunning New Desire HD.

The demand for this product has been tremendous and unfortunately there has been a delay in getting supplies in the UK. This has meant they are in very short supply everywhere.

The good news is our shipment has been confirmed. We expect to commence deliveries during the week of the 1st of November.

We appreciate that you have been inconvenienced. We apologise on behalf of HTC.

What happens next? We will email you on the 1st of November confirming your delivery date.

Thank you and sorry for the delay.

Pfffft Great .....

So glad I didn't order with them. They really ****** me about with customer services and not answering questions. And keeping me on hold on a premium rate line for nearly ten minutes before just hanging up on me. Two emails I sent them a week ago still haven't received any response either.

Ordered from mobiles.co.uk on Wednesday, was delivered Friday.

i get 2 days out of my iphone4 sometimes. have never got less than a day even when playing music and browsing.

for example yesterday i was on a 7 hour bus ride , music all the way , internet every so often , games. and before i was on the bus i was taking lots of photos around london , even used gps for 15 mins when we where lost . its currently been on for 28 hours with 15% battery left

You must have a good battery then as one day maximum I got and my sister and my friend only get 1 day out of there Iphone 4.

Yup :(, just as I thought, battery life is ****

Nice one HTC, create one of the most powerful mobiles to date with a big screen (LCD) and use one of the worst batteries, who ever decided that should be fired seriously

No go for me now either, bring on HTC's next mobile :D (with a 1500mAh or higher battery :p)

Not too worried about the battery, if worst comes to worst I'll just buy a larger capacity off ebay.

Anyone recommend any decent MicroUSB docks?

Edit: Don't suppose anyone has this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proporta-US...KPUY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1288012600&sr=1-2. I've got an HD2 at the moment and they're almost exactly the same size (and the MicroUSB port is in the same place), but if that dock has an extremely snug fit then it may not be compatible with the DHD.

24 :( Sad Panda. At least with all the cashback and offers etc I'm practically getting it for free.

Thanks, im staying away from 24 month deals, it has to be 12 or 18 month max, looks like i may have to hold out for MPD to make good and deliver beginning of November to keep my 18 month deal.

Oh and I too have had some light sensor problems when making a call (not receiving). A quick hack/fix in the meantime is to shine a bright light directly into the sensor (to the right of the speaker at the top). Luckily I've got a little LED torch on my keyring - shining that in brings the screen back within ~2 seconds, so the problem is obviously that it's not sensitive enough during calls.

I've bought a bigger mah battery for my iphone 3g from ebay. It's 50% larger. But I find it's almost doubled the battery life of the phone :s, probably as the previous battery was wearing thin. Hopefully someone get's a DHD battery out quick. They could easy make 20-30 a pop.

Are the battery's easy to get to on the DHD?
