New combi boiler needed - can anyone give me any advice?

On a side note, should the water in the radiators have some sort of treatment added to them? ie: Shouldn't just be regular water should it?

We've just had our heating done, and I'll swear they didn't add anything?

I'm far from an expert, but i've literally had my boiler looked at today - and they put some kind of chemical descaler in it (from what i can see) - but it's normal water from the mains.

Inhibitor usually goes into the system

I have the - Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 837 Combi Boiler

The reason why, was because the flow rate of the boiler was real good.

Unfortunately running two things at once is not good.

What type of shower?

If you have a shower, it's using a lot of water. If it's a power shower fed off the mains hot and cold or an electric shower fed off the cold water supply, any other flow of water will affect the shower.

Tap, wc cistern filling will affect this flow. The shower should then regulate the temperature accordingly for the drop in flow.

You can run more than one thing at a time but the flow rate decreases for each item running. Ideally running a shower and something else is not a good idea

If you want a better chance of running the shower and a tap at the same time, you need to be looking at bigger rated boilers than 24kW. 24kW is the smallest size you can buy, I'd be looking at a minimum of a 28kW for most people and more if you can stretch your budget (42kW is probably overkill though!), a bigger boiler won't necessarily use more gas because they modulate themselves down automatically based on the demand (i.e. lots of water running through or very little). Better too have too much power than too little.
 
Just realised mines the 837 not 831 - ecotec plus 837

Maximum DHW Heat Output: 37kW
CH Heat Output Range: 12.0 - 28.0kW
DHW Flow Rate @ 35 Deg C - 15.2 Litres

This is the kind of information above on the boiler which may help you decide.
The hotter the water the lower the flow rate will be. Most as above use a figure for comparison of flow rate at 35 deg c
